Women's rights?!

I started this book the week celebrating women's rights. It poignantly echos the lifes of young girls around the world. Their hopes and aspirations and the father's frustrations in trying to support them.
Dont get me wrong, that is not the storyline. Yet somehow that underlying current hit me and carried me through. Making me wonder what if....

A cold bucket of water wake up call is what happens in the ladies room. After that, well a nice story if perhaps too much of a cinderella story.

Love, the joy, the wait, the struggles & the knowing

A heart wrenching story well expressed and told. Not a mushy, churchy, all holier than thou. Nor a "it was a marriage written in heaven" type book. One all couples should listen to before getting married and married couples too.

FAMILY! Friends for life, inner struggle to keep church life and world life seperate

Leah Remini does a fabulous job with this audible book. It is like having coffee with one of your best friends when she has gone through a gut wrenching, wakeup call and wants to touch base with the world she had been walking through in a dream. It pulls at your heart strings and makes you want to cheer her on while silently muttering insults to the people and structure that kept her blinded to the fact that she is a wonderful, cheery, honest, powerful, strong willed woman. Thank goodness because it took that spirit to get her where she is now! This leaves you wishing she was your best friend too.

If you’ve listened to books by Elizabeth Moon before, how does this one compare?

I was disappointed in this book. The author spent too much time with other characters and their viewpoints which were very different from the main character's. It detracted from the storyline.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Cynthia Holloway?

Yes, I think she does a good job overall although at times it seems as if she was reading it for the first times as voice inflections, tones, are misplaced and character identity is not clearly recognizable by voice intonation.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Audacious Captain struggles against all including family!

Fantastic SCI FI Fantasy series! Not too graphic

Would you listen to Green Rider again? Why?

Yes, I was so happy to find a new author (for me) that created the same type of world and feeling as The Lord of the Rings (albiet on a lighter level). A lite mix of magic, castles, horse riding and unexpected events. Yet most of all I enjoyed that the main character is a young lady, facing self doubts, fears and unexpected events, yet approaches each obstacle with undaunting honor, and a lack of harsh, crude language or love/lust scenes.

What other book might you compare Green Rider to and why?

The Kris Longknife Series. Another series of a young lady facing adversity although in space not on land.

What does Ellen Archer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love her different accents. It is always a pleasure and a shock to hear them.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

After being expelled from her boarding school when she stood up against the school's wealthy bullies, Carrigan finds her escape from her father's wrath a bit more difficult than expected and her life taking a completely unexpected and surprising ride.

Wonderful way to read Shakespere!!!

A fantastic way to better understand olde english! Especially if you have a written copy you are following along with! I bought this for my son who was struggling trying to finish all his IB program! This saved the day! He was able to listen to it while traveling to and from school and truely understand it!!
