This is not the typical spicy orc book (of which I've read tons), this was sweet, tender, beautiful world building and gorgeous prose

I adore fated mated paranormal romance that isn't dark and dramatic. This is a a perfect little sweet small town paranormal fated mates story that isn't rushed instalove, is spicy but actually has a plot, and has the sweetest cinnamon roll. I want more!

This is a pretty standard but enjoyable, small town mystery series. It was a bit slow paced foe me but I can see myself coming back to pick up another installment in the series when I'm in a slump

So this narrator has done several Marissa Meyer books and I know her skill... this was not a good representation of that. She sounded like he had a head cold and the editing was also choppy

LOVE THIS

This whole series is such a delight, I'm very picky with paranormal romance because they can sometimes be really cringey/embarrassing but this is the best series in the genre imo. the characters are not two dimensional, the plots are fast paced and fun, the romances are well developed... it doesn't hurt that they are extremely steamy

2d nonsense

Waste of money, 2-dimensional characters, basically just erotica with forced angst that is pretty empty. It read very much like a dramatic Twilight fiction from the fanfiction.net era. Ms. Webster spends more time describing clothes and the hero's south Korean features/culture than the MCs thought processes or real emotions.

The author note says it's a dark romance but doesn't really explain anything about the story or triggers. It essentially says you should go in blind well honestly that's bullshit. I don't have any triggers but I strongly believe that if you are going to have childhood incestuous rape and constant suicide ideations in a book you should list it. The author writes technically well but it lacks depth and feeling, the dialog can be embarrassingly awkward and overall it feels very hollow, as if she was trying to create drama and despair for the sake of it. The premise itself is so silly, childhood/high school sweethearts break up, don't date or have sex with anyone else for 12 years, he comes back after becoming a doctor and they pick up again.

Also it take a turn towards the absurd/silly near the end which I only reached because I was listening to the audio at 3x speed. I truly couldn't have endured the cringeyness if it had been at my regular 2x speed.
