Historia
Three years after an incurable virus spread and turned a majority of the population into mindless and cannibalistic creatures, the world is a barren place. Society is broken, and most who remain have banded together in small camps and communities. Jon South is not like most other survivors. After losing his wife and son nearly two years into the pandemic, Jon now wanders the country roads and woods of rural Tennessee, a vigilante taking his revenge out on the undead monsters that took his family from him.

Started off great, then fizzled out!
Revisado: 01-30-25
The book started of great, I was really enjoying it then came Brook. She began to annoy me more and more. This is the apocalypse, obviously she never watched any apocalyptic movies. Actually both her and John became like passive wet blankets which, if real they would have been dead by book 7. There were no follow ups on anything, no discussion on the stupid mistakes they made, no mention of the slave group Willow ran. So much left up in mid air. And seriously, who would actually stop for a woman in a cage screaming for help on the side of the road. MAD MAX 101. OK! for an audible book, passed time while driving, it gave me comic relive if nothing else.

It’s an ordinary Monday. Until everything changes forever. At 2:44 PM, a mysterious crack appears in the sky. Anyone unfortunate enough to look up is immediately struck blind. What’s worse, their mind is wiped clean, replaced with a vicious urge to kill anyone within reach. Mark is at work when it happens. Fighting not to fall asleep, the boring department meeting suddenly turns into a bloodbath when people are drawn to the windows to look up at the sky.

The best thing was when it ended!
Revisado: 07-28-24
A good premise but not well executed. Way too many characters, i seriously had to make a cheat sheet to keep up with everyone. The conversations between characters went on and on and on! They were so long i ended up shouting at my phone (i listen in the car) to "shut up, or get to the point" Im also guessing the author loves to use the "Solar Plexus" as the best part of the body to either got hit, shot or the feels there. I should have counted how many times it was used. As for the story line, it sounded great, but ended up being from a Stephan King book. The narrater was "ok" but the way he dragged out words drove me nuts. Would i recommend, ithe hours are worth 1 credit, and if driving a lot, like myself it passes the time. That's it, its a time and soul killer! With a confusing lame emding!

Seb and Summer Richards thought they’d found their perfect home. What they got was a horror they could never have imagined. Starting a new life with their children on a remote Scottish island should have been a dream come true. Instead, it became a nightmare they would carry to their graves. A community’s secrets, a relentless blizzard and a legend from the past create the perfect storm for terror and mayhem.

Outstanding! CA never disappointments!
Revisado: 06-22-24
My all time favorite author. If you're into horror or apocalyptic books then look no further. I have read every book written by C.A each one as good as the last. His horror books will leave you on the edge of your seat, holding your breath for whats about to happen. Its a pure adrenaline ride right up to the last page!
His series's just make you wanting more with the end of each book. Believable characters you love or love to hate, each one with a story of their own. Kim Bretton is also an amazing narrator. Her ability to change her voice, do different accents makes each book/character come alive. The pairing of Christopher and Kim make for the best books here on audible.

Bored me to death!
Revisado: 06-22-24
It was a great concept, and im not sure when i lost the plot, but it was like i kept falling asleep and then woke up at a different chapter. I seriously zoned out through this whole series of books. The only thing that kept me listening was i had used a credit and i was determined to finish it. What happened in the end? Not a clue. This series might be for you, but i couldn't wait for it to end!

When the zombie apocalypse hits the quiet Asheville, NC, subdivision of Whispering Pines, the residents don't turn to the police or the military. Nope. They rely on their iron-fisted Home Owners Association! Which Jace Stanford and his family aren’t too keen on. Undead hordes are hard enough to deal with in a post-apocalyptic hellscape, who needs HOA fines too?

Historia
A nuclear EMP attack would shove the USA back 150 years. Death, chaos, and lawlessness would prevail.... Zack Johnson is no hero, but he does have some valuable prepper skills to help him survive. There is nothing like a nuclear apocalypse to help a man grow up and become a hero as he helps his family and friends survive. He is 2,000 miles from home; the grid and all modern transportation have failed. The country is degenerating into violence and dog-eat-dog scenarios. People are killing their neighbors for a scrap of moldy bread or a sip of water.

It passed the time while driving, but overall, it was badly written, Some of the conversations between characters were a joke. Like children playing mommies and daddies. Time lines were all over the place, and descriptions of people and events infantile. I was glad when it was over.

The author lost his way, along with the timeline!
Revisado: 06-30-23
Where do I begin? So, 7 days in, and it's like the world has ended. Seriously, the writers timeline is so far off that it's beyond annoying and stops the book from becoming real. 7 days into a zombie apocalypse, most people wouldn't know there was one. Electricity and water would still be in place, TV still broadcasting the news. "Maybe" some people would be getting a clue, but in the first 7 days, there are hordes of zombies, seriously! hordes?? A community has already built a wall around where they live and started a cult. I'm sure Negan from TWD took MONTHS to gather his followers. Yet this is how the storyline keeps on going. Only 2 weeks in and there being chased by more hordes and groups of crazy people. Then there's the dialog, "Connor said, Alexis said, James said, Tank said, Connor said, Anna said, James said," So very annoying. But not so annoying as the author adding his religious agenda. I felt I was in church and should start praying along with James. I don't mind religion, but if I wanted to read about it, I'd buy a Bible. This was a great story, but ruined by a timeline that was NOT realistic by any means, story, or no story. The author had something, but sadly he didn't think it through. The narrator was great. He had a good voice, which could have been put to better use. If you want a mindless book to read, then this is it.

The best of the book was when it ended!
Revisado: 06-16-23
Megan, the main character, was the most annoying, self pitying whining, liability of a protagonist I've ever read. What the author was thinking when writing who she was is beyond me. She couldn't make her mind up to make her into a damsel in distress or a bad ass! These books were poorly written, where she had Megan constantly repeating herself at her puty poor me party. I couldn't decide if they were written for an adult or a very young teenager? But when you're supposedly in the middle of an apocalypse and a 30 year old is saying, "Those are just very bad men," tells me it's a series for young kids. I only carried on listening to these books as I had paid for them. Just glad I've finished the series and will not be listening to any more by this author.
