Historia
For Sabre Orin Brown, life is good; she has it all...or would have, if only she could solve the mysterious disappearance of her brother. The search for her brother and her career as a juvenile-court attorney collide when she defends a nine-year-old whose father will go to any length to obtain custody. Sabre finds herself immersed in a case with too many unanswered questions. Her quest for the truth takes her coast to coast and five years into the past.

Ugh-the narrator!
Revisado: 06-18-23
The story was just ok. The narrator made it difficult to finish. She was so flat I found myself drifting away from the story.

Historia
The number-one New York Times best-selling author of Small Great Things returns with a powerful and provocative new novel about ordinary lives that intersect during a heart-stopping crisis. The warm fall day starts like any other at the Center - a women’s reproductive health services clinic. Then, in late morning, a desperate and distraught gunman bursts in and opens fire, taking all inside hostage. After rushing to the scene, Hugh McElroy, a police hostage negotiator, sets up a perimeter. Then he finds out that his 15-year-old daughter, Wren, is inside the clinic.

Difficult to read
Revisado: 10-16-18
As many others noted this book is very difficult to read, not only because of the subject, but keeping track of who's who and what stage of the story you're in. Many also noted the heavy-handed agenda. I couldn't follow the agenda while trying to decipher how each part fit into the story. I hate not finishing a book I used a credit on, but I couldn't do this one. I've read and loved most of Ms Picoult's books. This one is a no.

Historia
In a small North Korean village, a young girl struggles to survive. Catastrophic floods have ravaged her countryside. But it is her father's faith, not the famine of North Hamyong Province, that most threatens Chung-Cha's well-being. Is Chung-Cha's father right to be such a vocal believer? Or is he a fool to bring danger on the head of his only daughter? Chung-Cha is only a girl of twelve and is too young to answer such questions. Yet she is not too young to face a life of imprisonment and forced labor.

Extremely difficult to get through
Revisado: 05-17-14
Would you try another book from Alana Terry and/or Kathy Garver?
As for the author, maybe,,, As for the narrator, absolutely never. She would be best narrating the wicked witch from Sleeping Beauty. Every character except the main character is done with such a grating tone it's very hard to get through.
Would you recommend The Beloved Daughter to your friends? Why or why not?
No, well, maybe if they read the book. But certainly not the audible version.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
A better question would be in what ways did the narrator enhance the book - she is just plain awful.
Any additional comments?
I listen to audible books nearly every day. Of course I have favorite readers, but I have never encountered one this bad.

Ditto the above review - and there should have been mention about the homosexuality in the synopsis.

Historia
Joni Mitchell, Carole King, and Carly Simon remain among the most enduring and important women in popular music. Their stories trace the arc of the now-mythic generation known as "the 60s" - the female version. Filled with the voices of dozens of these women's intimates, this alternating biography reads like a novel. Except it's all true.

Can't do it
Revisado: 06-17-08
I'm sorry, I love these 3 ladies, but I just cannot finish this book. The detail after detail after detail is beyond boring. It's kinda like attending a wedding where you only peripherally know the bride, and the aunt sitting next to you is giving you a blow-by-blow biography of each and every one of her 84 grandchildren. Maybe an abridged version would be better?
