"The sky was full of dying airplanes" as American Liberator bombers struggled to return to North Africa after their daring low-level raid on the oil refineries of Ploesti. They lost 446 airmen and 53 planes, but Philip Ardery's plane came home. This pilot was to take part in many more raids on Hitler's Europe, including air cover for the D-Day invasion of Normandy. This vivid firsthand account records one man's experience of World War II air warfare.

Fascinating
Revisado: 03-27-15
Would you consider the audio edition of 200,000 Miles aboard the Destroyer Cotten to be better than the print version?
My vision isn't what it used to be. Audiobooks are the way to go for me know.
What did you like best about this story?
My husband was in the Navy during the war but never talked about it much.
This is a bit like a wonderful look into his past.
What about James Killavey’s performance did you like?
Very nice job.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Both...laughter mostly at the end during the occupation. Boys will be boys, I suppose.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed this book immensely. One of the little perks about getting old is I'll probably forget most of it in a few months, and then can enjoy it again!

Historia
Daniel Donatelli's literary debut, Music Made by Bears, combines beautifully written prose with a multilayered, thematic story that challenges readers to reflect on the meaning, purpose, and depth of life. A seemingly endless canvas of descriptive natural imagery provides the setting for this linguistically melodic novel, which takes place in an isolated religious community whose long-sought seclusion and harmony are disrupted by the arrival of two mirrored opposites - one invited, and one not.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book touched me so deeply and had me hooked from beginning to end. It is a story that depicts aspects of humanity that affect every person regardless of age, race or creed including self-discovery, family relations, love, death and the on-going struggle between religion and progress.
What other book might you compare Music Made By Bears to and why?
Can't think of any..this was unique.
Which scene was your favorite?
The scene when the two "lonely souls" find each other...beautiful.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
How about.....Music Made by Bears.
Any additional comments?
Reader was excellent. Did a great job without overpowering the story line.

Very good detective story and "clean."
Revisado: 11-25-14
What made the experience of listening to Silent Justice the most enjoyable?
I grew up on Sherlock Holmes, Dasheill Hammett and many other classic detective stories and I love the genre. Problem with most "modern" detective stories is they throw in a lot of foul language and gratuitous sex for no apparent reason...rating, I guess. This is a great story without any of that unnecessary stuff. Reminds me of my favorite TV show..CASTLE.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Silent Justice?
When the killer is about to get his last victim and then, suddenly.......ah..you got to get the book for that. :)
Have you listened to any of James Killavey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have. He's good and did not disappoint here.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did...one driving trip. Planning to get the next one for my next trip.
Any additional comments?
Nope...good book...hopefully there will be many more in the series.
