Historia
An historic literary event: the publication of a newly discovered novel, the earliest known work from Harper Lee, the beloved, best-selling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic To Kill a Mockingbird. Originally written in the mid-1950s, Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.

Uneventful, non-compelling, day-in-the-life stuff.
Revisado: 06-16-23
I kept waiting for something to happen, some emotion to be stirred, something! Grown-up Scout isn’t quite as interesting as her younger self. Ho-hum is about all I can say, although Reese, being from the South, did breathe life into the characters…

Historia
Discover magazine recently called Richard Dawkins "Darwin's Rottweiler" for his fierce and effective defense of evolution. Prospect magazine voted him among the top three public intellectuals in the world (along with Umberto Eco and Noam Chomsky). Now Dawkins turns his considerable intellect on religion, denouncing its faulty logic and the suffering it causes.

Should be Required Reading!

I was raised in the Catholic faith so guilt and shame were my guides. Once I understood how sadistic , controlling and petty the god of Catholicism is, my faith gave way to skepticism. I wondered why anyone would choose to believe in such a brutal deity. I’ve been “in limbo” ever since, having neither the information nor the courage to claim atheism. Thanks to Richard Dawkins, I now have both. Great research- based, scientifically-backed information on flaws and inconsistencies in the Bible, what Evolution and Natural Selection are and how they answer serious, scientific questions that creationists call miracles and leave to faith. He even theorizes why religion exists, from an evolutionary standpoint. Mr. Dawkins is brilliant and this book is enlightening, to say the least. I am no longer ashamed to admit I’m an atheist. I wonder how anyone with a brain can be anything else!

As an introvert I rarely use my personal Facebook page but I did open a Facebook page for my nonprofit thrift store. I had neither read nor written a blog, neither tweeted nor read a tweet, This book showed me, not only how powerful the use social media can be, but that it is essential for business success. . Hanberg gives so many useful tips and recommendations that I’m going to listen to it again, this time taking notes. I’m also going to buy a hard copy to use as an easy reference. Really great information and advice!
