Historia
A producer at the BBC and mother to a new baby, Tessa is at work in Belfast one day when the news of another raid comes on the air. The IRA may have gone underground in the two decades since the Good Friday Agreement, but they never really went away, and lately bomb threats, security checkpoints, and helicopters floating ominously over the city have become features of everyday life. As the news reporter requests the public's help in locating those responsible for the robbery, security footage reveals Tessa's sister, Marian, pulling a black ski mask over her face.

Retired astronaut Adam Alston can't support his family. When NASA comes knocking for a mission leader, it's a match made in heaven - especially since their A-list team declined the haphazard mission. And so did their B-list. But Adam doesn't know that. And neither does his family.

Interesting SF idea

This is science fiction that I like best - plausible, almost a what-if alternate history. Great reader and production!

Historia
This clearly written and engrossing book presents a global narrative of the origins of the modern world from 1400 to the present. Unlike most studies, which assume that the "rise of the West" is the story of the coming of the modern world, this history, drawing upon new scholarship on Asia, Africa, and the New World, constructs a story in which those parts of the world play major roles.

History as I Wished I Was Taught
Revisado: 08-06-18
Western history set in a global context. Insightful and thought provoking. This course will challenge all the stereotypes you were taught concerning the moral, economic, intellectual, religious and philosophical superiority of the west and its fated dominance of the rest of the world. It is a thought provoking examination of the forces at work in recent history with plenty of surprises for the student. Great wonder and wonderful presentation.

Historia
One hundred thousand years ago, at least six human species inhabited the Earth. Today there is just one. Us. Homo sapiens. How did our species succeed in the battle for dominance? Why did our foraging ancestors come together to create cities and kingdoms? How did we come to believe in gods, nations, and human rights; to trust money, books, and laws; and to be enslaved by bureaucracy, timetables, and consumerism?

Provocative History
Revisado: 01-13-17
This book presents a provocative and challenging account of the historical arc of Homo sapiens in marked contrast to the standard historical and religious viewpoints that I am familiar with. Combined with the new findings of human paleontology, DNA, archeology and comparative anthropology this is definitely the history that I wish I was exposed to in college. Agree or disagree this book will make you think. The production and audio presentation are superb
