From the Booker Prize-winning author of The Remains of the Day and When We Were Orphans comes an unforgettable edge-of-your-seat mystery that is at once heartbreakingly tender and morally courageous about what it means to be human.

Read it
Revisado: 02-04-25
I went into this novel without much information; I was just searching for something to read. This story has so many wonderful elements - solid writing, pacing, and a flawed protagonist that you really care about. You can see why this book was nominated for so many awards.

Historia
Some people are born with a drive often seen in entrepreneurs, pro-athletes, inventors, adventurers, and Navy SEALs. It's in their DNA - research has shown that certain genes can manifest resilient and highly focused people who can also be impulsive and easily distracted. While these traits enabled our ancient ancestors to survive, if you have these traits today, it can create havoc in your life. You may be diagnosed with ADHD, ADD, or OCD. But what the world tells you is a disability or disorder may actually be your greatest gift. Now it's time to learn how to use it.

Interesting book, narration underwhelming
Revisado: 04-19-24
I really enjoyed the book. Unfortunately, the narration was downright distracting. It sounded unprofessional and frankly boring the way it was red. I think that could turn a lot of people away from the audiobook.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Not for readers of good fantasy
Revisado: 03-22-24
I got this because it came up as a high recommendation. To be fair, I am unfamiliar with whatever game this book is based on - however, there is a way to write a book based on a game that doesn’t interrupt the flow of the story endlessly to let you know how many elixirs the protagonist has consumed. I really tried hoping it would get better but after many chapters I’m as annoyed as ever. Just skip this one.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Historia
If a man doesn't take you seriously, he may feel compelled to have a good time with you. Unfortunately this good time will last until you finally realize you're being taken for a ride or until Mr. Time Waster ultimately moves on to a woman he REALLY wants. In cases like this, what a woman really requires are two things: a healthy amount of self-respect and a set of "player-proof" dating rules that will allow her to make wise dating decisions.

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

One of the best fantasy novels I’ve experienced
Revisado: 04-04-20
This story is riveting and the journey through Kvothe’s life has a depth of realism that surpasses that of most novels I’ve read. You won’t be disappointed. There is so much depth to the characters, the world and the tale that you’ll wonder how you’ve waited this long to experience it.

A rehash of better material
Revisado: 02-03-20
I thought this was a waste of money and I could not regret this purchase more. There are much better books with more solid content out there by women like Jen Sincero and Mel Robbins that have actionable suggestions and their content is simply more solid and polished. However, if you want to ride the Jesus wagon alongside mediocre content, then this book is the one.
Recommendation: skip this and spend your money on something that will actually produce results.

Say it isn't so! You are coming to the end of your novel...DUN, dun, dunnnnn...and now you have no idea what to write or what to do. How are you going to wrap up those loose ends in time (before the deadline of your debut novel)? I mean, brainstorming doesn't seem to work; inspiration from similar novels and the support of fellow authors doesn't seem to work. What, oh what, can a serious writer do in order to get the job done?

Should be a blog post

No real techniques or content here. It would be better as a blog post than audio book. I wouldn’t encourage you to pay for this.
