Too many changes to the base story.
Revisado: 05-25-24
Normally I love audio plays, but this one was hard to get into. If you love Ender's Game/Shadow then stick to those audio books. This adaptation ads to much "stuff" that distracts from the story. I don't know if it's all Retcon from later Endervers books, but they add nothing and just distract the reader.

Historia
Nationally best-selling fantasy legend Mercedes Lackey created a vivid, dynamic fusion of the Upper and Lower Kingdoms of ancient Egypt with the most exciting, authentic and believable portrayal of dragons ever imagined. In the second novel in Mercedes Lackey's richly conceived Dragon Jousters series, the dragonrider Vetch escapes to Alta, the subjugated land of his birth. There, he hopes to teach his people to raise and train dragons - and build an army that will liberate his homeland.

Great book, Great world building, odd accents
Revisado: 04-30-20
Just like Joust, this is a great story that I hold close to my heart, However I have to question the accent choices again, especially with this book and Accents are talked about in the text. ( mild spoilers a head) There is a specific scene where an Accadian healer is confronting a Magus, the narrator talks about the healer thickening his Accadian Accent to make Magus sound like Maggot. Is the Healer given and Accadian (modern day Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Syria) accent? NOPE Thick Scottish burl, the narrator doesn't even try to make Magus sound like Maggot. Also the pronunciation of the main character's name Kiron keeps changing and getting lazier and lazier, almost completely dropping the 'K'. This makes it a little hard to know who's talking as this book introduces a significant amount of new characters. I love these books, but i don't see the direction getting any better as we're 1/2 through the series and changing it all now would be even more jarring.

Great story.. weird direction on accents
Revisado: 04-30-20
I have been a fan of this series since it was first published, still have hardcover 1st editions. I love these books, and the narrator is skilled, but what the heck is up with his accent choices? The setting is clearly "Egyptian" but instead of going with a neutral broadcast accent, or middle eastern accent, he chose a mix of Scottish and English. I was ready to make my peace with it when it seamed that the Altan characters were voiced with mixes of English accents, and the Tian's mostly Scottish, but he didn't even stick to that. I've also noticed odd pronunciations of names. The main character Vetch's father Kiron I've always read as K EE ron, but the narrator reads it at Kur ron. Again, Great story, just weird direction in the acting.

Historia
Most children go through a dinosaur phase. Learning all the tongue-twisting names, picking favourites based on ferocity, armour, or sheer size. For many kids this love of ‘terrible lizards’ fizzles out at some point between starting and leaving primary school. All those fancy names slowly forgotten, no longer any need for a favourite. For all those child dino fanatics who didn’t grow up to become paleontologists, dinosaurs seem like something out of mythology. They are dragons, pictures in books, abstract, other, extinct.

Dinosaurs for non Dino-nuts. Very approachable and very "lay-mans" book. I really like how it emphasizes that dinosaurs are still among us (as birds)

Really makes this classic approachable. The presentation was like listening to movie, characters were well versed, and the ambiance wasn't over powering.

more great world building

This book seams to focus more and more on other communities around the US and how they are coping with the Post Apocalyptic reality. The book hints at some of the mysteries surrounding the main commune but doesn't answer and hard questions.

Historia
The survivors have come to settle in the mountains of Wyoming, fighting day in and day out to establish a home for themselves in a near-empty world. Things are good at first; scavenging is a workable, short-term solution that seems to be providing all they need. But they know that it’s only a matter of time before the food runs out. They need to scramble to find a sustainable solution before the clock stops, and for a little handful of people up in the mountains, the odds don’t seem very favorable.

A strong second book. Introducing characters alluded to in the 1st book. This also starts to paint the rest of the world making the story not exclusively about one lone bastion of survival, but the rest of the world trying to get back together.

Historia
For dinosaurs, it was a big rock. For humans: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). When the Earth is hit by the greatest CME in recorded history (several times larger than the Carrington Event of 1859), the combined societies of the planet's most developed nations struggle to adapt to a life thrust back into the Dark Ages. In the United States, the military scrambles to speed the nation's recovery on multiple fronts including putting down riots, establishing relief camps, delivering medical aid, and bringing communication and travel back on line. Just as a real foothold is established in retaking the skies (utilizing existing commercial aircraft supplemented by military resources and ground control systems), a mysterious virus takes hold of the population, spreading globally over the very flight routes that the survivors fought so hard to rebuild.

this wad a nice, well paced adventure in the Skippy-verse. good audio drama and a very talented cast. there were times the vocals got a little buried in the ambiance, but it made sense due to the battle. A lot of folk have complained about the music, consider the narrator.

Historia
From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Great start to an indepth and plausible SciFi.

I absolutely love this series. It's got great suspense, believable technology, and a lack of Humanity = Mary-Sue hand waving.
I'd list my favorite scene but hate when there are spoilers in a review. However, watching the character Niel develop and change over the course of the series shows amazing subtly and skill on the part of Mr. Moss.
R.C Bray does another masterful performance with unique voices for all the characters and great depth of meaning.
