If you can get over Nigel channeling Churchill and the over exaggerated Italian accents, you will enjoy a fairly interesting Holmesian panache.

First rate Holmesian novel...or should I say Watsonian? Good concept linking Col. Moran to some unexplained nefarious events but carried a bit too far I think. I began thinking that the Moriarty-Moran gang was responsible for everything from the premature death of Prince Albert to the assassination of President Garfield. A pretty good listen though,

As I began listening to this book I realized that I hadn't got the memo which stated that f**k had replaced damn as a mild expletive. Mr. Weir must have had a timer running and every time it went off he threw in a f**k. I know that millenials have adopted this firmly into their jargon, but I hope the general public and young children have not. This book will be read by the young and it is a shame that a good story to interest them in space exploration is tainted with such language.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Holmesian neophytes who are members of the religious right.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Anything not divinely inspired

What didn’t you like about Paul Woodson’s performance?

It wasn't the worst, but after a while several of the characters started sounding the same.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Case of the Exploding Speakeasy - A Holmes-Watson Detective Team in Jazz-Age Philly!?

Most of the dialog... It is so redundant in many places that you wish the author had been in the explosion himself. It seems that this was a very short story based on content, then stretched into novel length. Guess the author was paid by the word.

Any additional comments?

Try a different divinity for inspiration
