Historia
Meet Laszlo, eight-hundred-year-old demon and Hell’s least productive Curse Keeper. From his office beneath Midtown, he oversees the Drakeford Curse, which involves a pathetic family upstate and a mysterious black monolith. It’s a sexy enough assignment—colonial origins, mutating victims, et cetera—but Laszlo has no interest in maximizing the curse’s potential; he’d rather sunbathe in Ibiza, quaff martinis, and hustle the hustlers on Manhattan’s subway.

Fun, exciting and great characters.
Revisado: 05-02-25
I thoroughly enjoyed thos book. The characters were great and felt real. Many of them would make excellent main characters of their own books. And I would purchase every one without much thought. This book had me on the edge of my seat all the way through. I was rooting for the Drakefords, I was rooting for the Demon Lazlo. If there ever comes a sequel I'm there!

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

The Perfect audiobook!
Revisado: 04-12-24
The way this story is told is brilliant. And the true crime podcast the story revolves around is perfect for audiobook. It's a great whodunit with likeable characters and a great setting in a small town usa. The performance of both narrators is outstanding and really brings the story and characters to life.

A mixed bag!
Revisado: 11-14-23
Not at all what I thought it would be. This is a hard review to make because this book was a hard read.
First things first, it starts right away and you're into the action quite fast. I liked the premise but it was like one hell of a monster marathon with so many different monsters killing so many "extras" that it felt like when in the MCU movies a superhero has a cool move that looks cool and is perfect for the situation and then they never do it again even though it would be perfect again but it is like it has been checked of the list of cool things we need to see.
All the different monsters also seem kind of "monster that fits this situation check, next!" And the character deaths kinda loses their impact as they all seem like extras brought along so they could die to monster x, y and z... check!
Then half way through the story switches things up and at first it a welcome change but it ends up making the first part better, that said It ends better than it started and I am glad I sticked around and didn't give up on it like I almost did multiple times.
The Narration thoug was great and was part of what held my interests in the story.

Really torn!
Revisado: 08-21-23
I liked the story. HATED the ending!!! was torn between giving it 3 or 4 stars.
Decided to give it 3 as the ending in my opinion ruins an otherwise great story. Overall I gave it 4 as the story was kind of good and narration 5 as it was absolutely brilliant. During the book I was looking up the sequels in the "series" but after the disappointing and annoying ending I have given up on this author and will be requesting a refund! So disappointed!!!

This has it all, A thrilling story, great characters and awesome narrators! I was really impressed by how well it was written and how the lore of 40k was woven into it.
The character Cain gave of Flashman vibes without being a ripoff. I'm so thrilled to have found this 40k series.

Revisado: 05-31-23
Mike Brooks can really write some grea books. This and Brutal Kunin are the best ork books yet! Finally some great books from the orks perspective! Good story, great action and hilarious humor. It really brings out the crazy personality of the fighty "klever" orks.
Speaking of bringing out the crazy personalities of the orks, Harry Myers is brilliant and spot on as narrator. He really brings the story to life and made me laugh out loud several times, it's a match made in heaven!
