Historia
Masochism is sexy, human, reviled, worshipped, and can be delightfully bizarre. Deliberate and consensual pain has been with us for millennia, encompassing everyone from Black Plague flagellants to ballerinas dancing on broken bones to competitive eaters choking down hot peppers while they cry. Masochism is a part of us. It lives inside workaholics, tattoo enthusiasts, and all manner of garden variety pain-seekers.

My Reivew
Revisado: 09-12-22
She tries to talk about the science of pain and psychology of pain seeking behavior, but keeps getting distracted talking about her personal sex life. The last chapter is pretty much a blow by blow account of a bdsm session with someone. If you are into that, you'll like this book a lot. It's hard to talk about a subjective subject like pain or a topic like masochism. But the personal accounts could have skipped the vivid descriptions of her bdsm sessions, body parts, etc.

Amazing Narration, Fun Story
Revisado: 04-26-22
I read Hardy Boys and Boxcar Children as a kid but never Nancy Drew. That said, I understood the beats and crazy plots and loved them. The crazy plot (kidnapped nuns), the characters, and setting. It's a world that doesn't shy away from the real-world homophobia of the time period but gives the characters a space they can express themselves without fear. Plus, there's some great representation of butch women!

There are no Yetis
Revisado: 08-16-20
There, if you bought the book because you loved The Terror I've saved you some time. I liked all the historical and technical details about mountain climbing. But as the book went on, I continued to wonder where the Abominable was. There isn't any. Whoever wrote the blurb should be fired. This book might be great if not for that huge letdown.

Historia
Throughout history, food has acted as a catalyst of social change, political organization, geopolitical competition, industrial development, military conflict, and economic expansion. An Edible History of Humanity is a pithy, entertaining account of how a series of changes---caused, enabled, or influenced by food---has helped to shape and transform societies around the world.

Historia
The epic and highly anticipated conclusion to the listener-favorite series that had countless Audible listeners (and employees) hooked from the very first Bob - featuring, as always, a flawless performance from the inimitable Ray Porter. Being a sentient spaceship really should be more fun. But after spreading out through space for almost a century, Bob and his clones just can't stay out of trouble. They've created enough colonies so humanity shouldn't go extinct.

Not the strongest of the Bobiverse books but I was entertained. There's some plots that never get resolved.

Historia
In 1997, World Championship Wrestling was on top. It was the number-one pro wrestling company in the world, and the highest-rated show on cable television. Each week, fans tuned in to Monday Nitro, flocked to sold-out arenas, and carried home truckloads of WCW merchandise. Sting, Bill Goldberg, and the New World Order were household names. Superstars like Dennis Rodman and KISS jumped on the WCW bandwagon. It seemed the company could do no wrong.

I used to watch WCW in the late 90's and early 00's. I remember some of this happening, the good and the bad. It's interesting to hear what went on behind the scenes and to learn about the business of "wrastlin".

Historia
In a world full of super powers, Felix has a pretty crappy one. He has the ability to modify any item he owns. To upgrade anything. Sounds great on paper. Almost like a video game. Except that the amount of power it takes to actually change, modify, or upgrade anything worthwhile is beyond his abilities. With that in mind, Felix settled into a normal life. A normal job. His entire world changes when the city he lives in is taken over by a super villain. Becoming a country of one city. A city state.

Pathetic
Revisado: 04-24-18
The main character is the sad Mary Sue. Suddenly life is a video game and you're in a Harem anime. the women come in having been mutilated, broken and sold as slaves. The protagonist build them back up and nobly chooses not to have sex with them until they convince him that it's okay, they can share this former fast food manager turned wealthy CEO. The plot has more holes in it then a Midwestern Highway in late spring. The entire thing reads as someone's attempt at erotica, but couldn't bring themselves to go all the way.

the first two books are awesome. In this one, a lot of the characters seem to get a lot more stupid and are constantly in awe of the main character, who can do no wrong. I had to give up on the book around chapter 9. that is roughly where I stopped reading the webcomic too.
