Loved it but...

I've been a born-again Christian since 1972, and am presently working on an outreach involving Youtube videos shown mostly in Asian and African nations, so I was totally on board for the first two-thirds of this book. The author uses the phrase "not relevant" to describe the 350,000 American churches. I'd have said "carnal because of their (our) unprecedented prosperity". "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also". Social media works because users get an ego buzz every time they receive a notification. That's the "treasure" delivered via smart phones that we have to compete with.

But the idea of building a "Facebook campus" within existing local churches? Really? West coast members of a Florida church? Did I miss the part about how to handle the "worst case" security issues? What about those misbehaving in the name of the Lord? You're a pastor. Can you imagine NOT personally visiting any member of your real (as opposed to virtual) congregation? How do you manage 1 Cor 5.11 on Facebook?

I loved your aquarium analogy. Modern churches today are still using a 2000 year old model. Buy or rent a building. Hold meetings there. Talk to people about Jesus whenever you can. Television was resisted at first (Billy Graham), and so is the Internet today. Consider this though: I'm paying $10 per day to promote just two of my Youtube videos: "How to study the Bible", and "How to Share the Gospel". In the last seven days those two videos together were played 13,883 times. Total watch time? 565 hours. Top three countries based on number of views? India (4286), Philippines (3370), Indonesia (1213). That's not because the videos are great: It's because I paid Google $70 to be sure people saw and clicked on them. This isn't a promotion for my program. It is though, a call to consider using the model somewhere in what you're already doing. You no doubt have people who know how to produce and place Youtube videos. The formula that produced those numbers just now is Google Ads > New Campaign > Without Goals > Video > Custom > Skippable > Standard inventory > ALL COUNTRIES. Note: Google Ads are expensive for anything local. The trick for ultra-low pricing is to run the ads where no one else in this country is: I.e. Overseas (ex Europe).... hence the "All Countries". The goal therefore can't be to promote any local church: It's simply preaching the gospel, or teaching others how to.

The Martian is awesome. Hail Mary is okay. Artemis lost my interest about half-way through. Any chance for a sequel to the Martian?

A better value than I expected

Often these cheaper reads can be a waste of money, but not so this one. I learned a lot from it, and was especially interested in some of Youtube's history that I wasn't aware of. What's more, the narrator's pace was quick, adding even more to the value. I'll listen to it again today, but will be sure to drop the speed to catch points I missed last time. BTW, I have no connection with the author.

A major game-changer for me

Wow, who knew? Thanks Dr Walker for the... well, revelations in this book. I had no idea. The connection with dementia along with the details about micro-sleeps may literally have saved my life. I'm a 72 yr old courier who drives late nights. All of your warnings about sleep deprivation hit me squarely. I'm on board now, and will change to day routes soon. In the meantime, I'm getting 7-8 hrs of quality sleep almost every night now, thanks to you.

Delivers more than expected

First, I have no connection with the author at all. I was put off by the title a bit for several months, assuming that the author was a twenty-something riding the Youtube wave. Fortunately I was wrong on that, and this book quickly soared to my "must re-read" list. Thanks Steve, for your dozens of insights - one of which completely revamped my YouTube how-to channel the moment I read it!

I'm a big Michael Connelly fan BUT...

Very few fiction writers can hold my attention like Michael Connelly does, but I'm at a point in my life where I don't need upsetting and vulgar images dragging down my thought life. The woman who was hacked in two and placed to look like she was having sex with herself was enough for me. Amazon, I'd like my money back please.

Not impressed with the author

I'm about an hour into this book and will probably finish it because I really want to experience the trail without actually walking it. This book provides that, but I'm annoyed by the author's incessant criticism of pretty much everyone he encounters. I get it. For some, putting people down to feel better about themselves is as natural as breathing, but I've learned that people who put others down behind their back to me... will put me down behind my back to other people. When I saw that many years ago it completely changed my friend list forever. True now for my favorite author list as well.

I can't believe I bought this title

It isn't worth the words to describe how bad it is. Advanced? Rubbish. The parade of five star "reviews" should have been the tipoff.

Great value but flawed

I hate to give these low marks to a book that's this helpful, but there are two things that will permanently drive me nuts about it: One may be Audible's fault: The chapters that appear in the list at the bottom of the screen don't in any way agree with the ones being voiced by the narrator. That happens with a lot of audio books here, and I'm amazed that Amazon hasn't remedied it by now. The other thing is... what in the world is the opening chapter (or chapter 4 in the list I think) about depression doing here? Is it the author's secret agenda, or a clerical error? Either way it's another thing that almost made me return the book. If you can get past those two things though, the rest of the content is right on and very useful for where I am just now (a ten-year website designer who's been away from affiliate marketing for three years and wanting to catch up).

Its about 911... Not YOU!

I came to this book 110% on board with the author after hearing one of her interviews on YouTube. Unfortunately, the first four chapters have me skipping ahead to find out if there's any chapter in the book that isn't filled with her bragging about how perfect she was for her job, how righteous her motives were throughout...it's playing in my ear just now: "for my part, my motivation was strictly humanitarian". Okay, I'm glad we have such noble people on the payroll. Enough already! Your message is lost in your egotistic need to use this situation for own glory (a phrase she actually used a little while ago).

Wake up America. Don't let the selfish voices distract from the truth that our government has been systematically lying to us since that day. They think we're all stupid enough to swallow it, and every day that goes by since that horrible day only proves that they're right.
