Historia
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, she just thinks he has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, it becomes clear that there is more to Quine's disappearance than his wife realises. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published it would ruin lives - so there are a lot of people who might want to silence him.

My goodness I love this book. I reckon this was my 5th listen! A friend of mine has done it over a dozen times!
So engaging, such a subtle and intricate development of the narrative. Such great characters and wonderful narration.
Highly recommended, along with its predecessor.

Good, but not as great as her others.
Revisado: 06-24-15
I expect a big exciting twist in liane moriarty books, and this one didn't really have one! The conclusion felt like a bit of an anticlimax. As usual though, a Step above the usual chick lit with likeable characters and an engaging story.

Historia
Alan Cumming grew up in the grip of a man who held his family hostage, someone who meted out violence with a frightening ease, who waged a silent war with himself that sometimes spilled over onto everyone around him. That man was Alan's father, Alex Cumming. Alex was the dark, enigmatic heart of Cumming family life. But he was not the only mystery. Alan's maternal grandfather, Tommy Darling, had disappeared to the Far East after the Second World War.

Loved it
Revisado: 06-04-15
Fantastic story, beautifully written and read by the man himself. Only criticism I would make is that it feels a bit like a narration of an episode of who do you think you are but of course there are added dimensions. Really enjoyed this book and the insight into such an interesting person.

I love/hated this.
Revisado: 04-06-15
Performance: amazing. 10/10. Humphrey bower is an absolute genius.
The story is so fascinating but I find the lead character quite self-righteous. There are million and one reviews of this book - I won't reinvent the wheel! It's an incredible story but sometimes the prose is so ridiculous I actually LOLed!
That said, I was moved to tears at some points and despite feeling little sympathy for the protagonist, the world he painted was colourful and vibrant. A love song for India and its people. (Well most of them anyway!)

Pretty predictable and knight in shining armour sort of fodder but an entertaining read / listen. Give it a try if you feel like something light!
