Historia
Expecting their first baby, Judd and Evette McGlin are thrilled at the prospect of becoming parents. But their marriage faces the ultimate test when Judd learns he already has a child: a six-year-old biracial daughter, born amid secrets and lies. Now, Evette must decide if she can accept the child - and forgive Judd. She thought she was open-minded - until hidden prejudices threaten the future of an innocent little girl, Evette's marriage, and the very notion of the woman she's believed herself to be.

Great Study!

Quotes:
Wise people don’t make a show of their knowledge.
“Engaging in deceitfulness is a slap in God’s face and has dire consequences. When we make a choice not to trust Him to handle a situation, we, in essence, decide He is a liar and will renege on His promise to meet every need. We then proceed to make our own way by any means necessary—even being deceptive. In doing so we forfeit the good life God had planned for us.”
― Deborah Smith Pegues, 30 Days to Taming Your Tongue
My Thoughts:
The best way I can describe 30 Days to Taming Your Tongue is a 3D in book form. It will pop up at you with the truth. Again most of the books that I have chosen to read throughout this year are books that will help me become better, and once again, another book that really takes you to a place of self-analysis. It makes you question yourself, "Are the words I am about to say words that will uplift or idle words"?
This book falls under the devotional category. It is intended to be read daily for 30 days. However, I read it straight through, which is an option as well. It is an easy read and can be finished within a couple of hours. Each day represents a type of tongue that can produce negative and toxic verbal communication.
What I liked most: The author uses humor, anecdotes, and scripturally based affirmations. I also appreciate the tips she offers on how to overcome.. I appreciate
Appendix A Daily Tongue Eval Checklist
Appendix B Alternative Uses for the Tongue
Appendix C Arsenal of Tongue Scripture
What I liked least:

Wow! I needed to hear this!
Revisado: 01-22-20
I do not think I have enough time and space of how much I enjoyed this book.. It really is an eyeopener! I have learned so much about why I am still hurting and in pain by the past. It gave me the courage along with the Bible of course to confront myself. This book explained a lot of the root issues of my emotional wounds. I am so glad I have read this book. I love how Joyce explained how we build walls to keep others from hurting but in the process we lock ourselves up in the process, because we want to be in control of who and what we will allow to hurt us. In reality only God has control of it all. She explains instead of building walls build a fence with a gate so we can let others out when they cross boundaries we have set.
There is so much more that I can touch! It explains a lot of my personality and attitude and boy did I need to check myself. If you are struggling with past hurt this is definitely a book worth reading and rereading! I read this book in audio format so I had to go back and replay certain chapters over because they were worth listening to! In addition the audiobook through Audible will also provide some PDF handouts that will also help your reading and studying.

This book should be shared with your women's study group! Jen Wilkin has done great job in explaining the importance of Bible literacy! Her study method strategies are very familiar since it is how I approach my Bible study as well. She was hitting the nail right on the head and we have similar ideas on this topic! I highly recommend this book!

This book has really shed light on my perspective on busyness, ministry, religion, family and about myself! My favorite is chapter 31! Thank you to the author for being open and honest! It is good to know that there is someone out there who understands the struggle! I highly recommend this book especially for those who do so much yet feel unaccomplished tired and exhausted!
