Historia
How did a libertine who lacks even the most basic knowledge of the Christian faith win 81 percent of the white evangelical vote in 2016? And why have white evangelicals become a presidential reprobate's staunchest supporters? Jesus and John Wayne is a sweeping account of the last 75 years of white evangelicalism, showing how American evangelicals have worked for decades to replace the Jesus of the Gospels with an idol of rugged masculinity and Christian nationalism.

I always love Creston Mapes' work. I enjoyed this one as well. I should've savored it instead of binging. 😔. No I have to wait patiently for the next thriller from Mapes. I love the faith tie ins.

Historia
Many seek reassurance or perceived unity by creating doctrinal statements, but that misses the point. Doctrine is necessary, but it is not the solution. In his new book Until Unity, New York Times best-selling author Francis Chan tells listeners that the real problem is shallow or even nonexistent love for each other. Although the Bible commands unity, some will resist these unifying efforts. We see it every day. We have to hate sin, love truth, and pursue unity for the church.

Historia
No Greater Love is a study of Jesus' interactions with people throughout the book of John, including Nicodemus, the woman at the well, and even the Pharisees. What did this love look like in action, especially with those who are hard to love? As it turns out, he didn't love people because they deserved it; he loved them because he is love.

saved my life
Revisado: 03-27-21
at the risk of sounding dramatic, this book quite literally saved my life and my faith. I was having a huge crisis of faith and combating the legalism I have always been raised in. This was a most timely listen for me. I highly recommend for anyone who is discouraged by the way the church has lost its passion and love for Christ.

Loved

I loved this! it really helped me to dig deep in my Bible reading. it helped me to imagine these women's lives.
the narrator pronounced some words uniquely, for example "sen" instead of "sin" or "wrild" instead of "world ", but overall it was great.

Historia
You can believe because of the evidence, not in spite of it. For the first 35 years of his life, J. Warner Wallace was a devout atheist. After all, how can you believe a claim made about an event in the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence? Then Wallace realized something. Christianity was a lot like the cold cases he solved as a homicide detective - cold cases that turned out to have enough evidence, eyewitnesses, and records to solve.
