Nostalgic Series
Revisado: 12-16-24
I’m glad I found this series on Audible, I never got to finish reading the books as a child due to responsibilities and chores. Now as an adult I don’t have much time to read so I tend to listen more. I can finally finish the series!

Historia
It is 1872, and a series of gruesome murders is the talk of London. Mycroft Holmes - now 26 and a force to be reckoned with at the War Office - has no interest in the killings; however his brother Sherlock has developed a distasteful fascination for the macabre to the detriment of his studies, much to Mycroft's frustration. When a ship carrying cargo belonging to Mycroft's best friend Cyrus Douglas runs aground, Mycroft persuades Sherlock to serve as a tutor at the orphanage that Douglas runs as a charity, so that Douglas might travel to see what can be salvaged.

Young Holmes’
Revisado: 11-21-24
A refreshing view of the Holmes brothers while they are still young, with a wiser, if more dour, Mycroft, and a fresh, green young Sherlock attempting to find himself in the world all wrapped up in a rather daring mystery.

Historia
Wizard Lily Singer is kept busy managing library archives, studying magic, and trying to keep her witch friend Sebastian from dragging her into trouble. Unfortunately, he loves adventure even more than she loves being left alone. She doesn't want to investigate a malignant spell in a haunted house, but Sebastian is promising rare books as the reward. She also doesn't want to hurt her family but is tired of being lied to about her past. And she definitely doesn't want to get stuck in a dangerously unstable time loop, but Sebastian is in trouble - again....

Interesting Shifter Culture
Revisado: 10-10-24
While I like the book overall, and found both story and narration great, I was a bit irritated with the whole romantic cliche portion where Kasia suddenly realizes that Brand lies after mating her. She was warned of this through the entire book, yet suddenly, as soon as she sees his back story, she jumps to the conclusion he lied to further his revenge by mating her. Admittedly I believe Brand would have had it in him at the beginning of the book, but by that point he truly has fallen for her and would never hurt her. Kasia’s whole “I can’t trust you because you lie” temper tantrum afterwards when she knew what kind of person he was from the get go is a little childish to me, but other than that, I enjoyed the book, particularly where she realized just how much Brand truly cared for her.

Bit Slow to Start
Revisado: 08-10-24
While I did find the book and characters of Mycroft and Douglas well written, the plot was a bit slow moving to start with. Even so, we were warned at the beginning that it was a bit intricate so it wasn’t too annoying to wait for it to pick up. A good read for those who like a challenging puzzle.

Excellent Conclusion
Revisado: 08-02-24
While it started off slow and was a bit frustrating in how gradually answers were given at times (like Lord Yamada himself I wanted to KNOW) this was a good conclusion to the series, and while I could thump Kanamore over the head for the way he used his knowledge of his friend to get to his and the Emperor’s goal, I am glad Lord Yamada found the happiness he deserves and worked so hard to obtain.

Great Conclusion
Revisado: 07-24-24
Amazing conclusion to one of my favorite series of all time. I’ll definitely listen to these again in the future to relive Daine’s journey and growth throughout, and perhaps revisit some of the other series I didn’t have time to finish as a teen. The interview with the author at the end was also a nice touch and inspiring to young writers about the whole process of writing and creating your own world.

Astounding Magical Adventure
Revisado: 07-14-24
This installment was just as amazing as the first two books in the series, and I’m reminded of what a truly nasty villain Orzorne is - and that his wickedness is only outdone by his arrogance. The imagination in this volume draws you in and doesnt let go until the final sentence; I especially loved the fact Diane used the dinosaurs instead of the two leggers like the Hag would have preferred.
