Storyline weird. Not to my liking.
Revisado: 03-19-25
Narration was boring. Only listened to chapter 12. Could not understand storyline. Would not choose this author in the future.

Martin Clark has been praised as "part John Grisham, part Hunter S.Thompson, and part sheer grit". Mason Hunt returns to his small Virginia hometown as the county's commonwealth attorney. Mason's brother Gates, who's currently serving a 20 year prison term, thinks Mason should have enough pull to set him free. And when Mason refuses, Gates hatches a plan to destroy his brother's life with a secret they both swore they'd take to the grave.

SUPERB...FROM BEGINNING TO END
Revisado: 02-14-20
This is the first listen in a long time that I regretted having to stop listening as I needed to perform a task or run an errand, etc.
Definitely would love to listen to another of the authors “work” as it was beautifully written with much thought in describing situations and characters so that I could picture the person or place vividly. Also, Ed Sala’s performance was exceptional. Thank you Martin Clark.

Hoaky dialogue.
Revisado: 10-28-19
Narration left much to be desired but in his defense the dialogue left a lot to be desired. Mr Gervais, don’t quit your day job if you have one. Do authors ever listen to their audible books being read? Couldn’t listen to the whole book. Very cringe worthy.

Excellent beyond words!!
Revisado: 10-21-19
John Grisham was able to bring a real tragedy about our justice system to light, especially because it is based on true incidents of people being wrongfully convicted. Kudos to Michael Beck for his outstanding narration. I pray that Joe Brian can be freed before he dies. This is a travesty.

TERRIBLE...GLAD IT WAS FREE!!
Revisado: 08-07-19
From the beginning the actor who plays Billy Bones was probably portraying the character correctly; however, I couldn’t stomach the grating voice and the singing...Ugh! British (or whatever it is) dialect is not to my liking in general. So I had to stop listening.

Rob Shapiro’s narration outstanding.
Thank you Tom Wood for this entertaining character. This is the fourth book I have listened to by Tom Wood. Every story is different and love that Victor is a “hero assassin.”

Revisado: 11-11-18
Please Mr. Lescroart re-record all your Dismas Hardy books with Jacques Roy. Your stories are always compelling and riveting but I cannot listen to David Colacci
anymore. I made it thru this book because of the story but listening to his reading was annoying to say the least.

Ballard kicks him out but then checks into the case herself, and it brings a deep tug of empathy and anger. Bosch is investigating the death of 15-year-old Daisy Clayton, a runaway on the streets of Hollywood who was brutally murdered and her body left in a dumpster like so much trash. Now, Ballard joins forces with Bosch.

Disappointed in narrating
Revisado: 11-05-18
Both narrators are excellent performers . That said, my disappointment was in Larkin giving a voice to Bosch; and,
Welliver giving a voice to Ballard. Why didn’t the directors, producers, or Connelly think to have them record their interactions in the story together in their own voices? This was so distracting that I gave up on listening half way through. This is why I gave only three stars for each category.

BRAVO STEPHEN!
Revisado: 08-25-18
The author’s decision to narrate his own story was spot on. His humorous stories were delightful. I applaud his ability to be vulnerable in his honest telling of his drug use over many years and went along with orgies when his first wife became a famous writer (Crimes of the Heart - her first success) and they lived a lavish lifestyle. Most of all his growing relationship with God over many years coming from various rabbis and other people that touched his life. I loved his friend Abe. Many people have sadness and tragedy in their lives but I was brought to tears by some of the tragedies he and friends and others endured. His telling of the assassination of President Kennedy when he was 12 or 13 was amazing. The addition of a pdf of family pictures was wonderful. I Wholeheartedly recommend this audible book. Thank you Stephen for this wonderful story. Joan
