Historia
Getting into a top-ranked college has never seemed more impossible, with acceptance rates at some elite universities dipping into the single digits. In Who Gets in and Why, journalist and higher education expert Jeffrey Selingo dispels entrenched notions of how to compete and win at the admissions game and reveals that teenagers and parents have much to gain by broadening their notion of what qualifies as a "good college". Hint: It's not all about the sticker on the car window.

The best book on college admissions really works
Revisado: 10-03-22
Selingo reveals how college admissions decisions are made at three different institutions. The transparent look into this opaque process is enlightening. I tell all my students and parents to buy this book.

Historia
Over the last few decades, Americans have turned college admissions into a terrifying and occasionally devastating process, preceded by test prep, tutors, all sorts of stratagems, all kinds of rankings, and a conviction among too many young people that their futures will be determined and their worth established by which schools say yes and which say no.

Must listen to book for every parent and student
Revisado: 06-05-22
A lot of times people proclaim you don't have to go to an elite college to have career success at the highest level but this book provides hundreds of examples, which makes it so cogent and powerful. It really is an antidote for the status crazed mania around college
On our "Your College- Bound Kid" podcast we are constantly imploring our listeners to read this book. I read it twice but I got more out my 3rd time which was listening in audio format.
This book should be required reading in any upscale private suburb or any private school

Historia
For college admissions help, give your child that "unfair" advantage in applying to college, without cheating, offering bribes, using legacy, or giving donations. Here's the kind of insider information that’s made the author's own clients refer him to their friends for the past 17 years. It's a free, fast, and entertaining listen that's designed for the hard-bitten realist who takes nothing at face value, especially in light of the college admissions scandal of 2019.

Colossal waste of money, title is so misleading
Revisado: 03-17-22
The book shares the most elementary tips. Tips that a counselor with 3 months experience would know and it purports to be sharing inside information. Here is an example: parents if your child takes out a lot of student debt it is your fault. Is that some insiders secret?????
There are also several things that are factually inaccurate.
I have 23 years experience in college admissions and college counseling and authors like this give the IEC profession a bad name with the college admissions community.
I saw the despicable ratings and bought it anyway because the title intrigued me. I was a fool. Please learn from my mistake. Amazon this book is not worthy of being in your great collection of audible books. I honestly believe you should remove this from audible
