The book tells of a lifelong search, of a scholar's curiosity about his family's past, leading him all over the world to find what happened to six of the six million--his great uncle and his wife, their four daughters. A brilliant and consuming book with an equally moving and brilliant reading.

A stunning reading by the author of this memoir. Though immediately enjoyable to anyone who swims, it is a very important account of a maturing woman learning to be her own difficult self. Hats off!

Ben Fountain has captured the plight of Haiti in his novel of Haitians and foreigners living there and trying to cope with (or profit from) the country's chaos and violence. This is a politically astute and humane account of a certain time that could be anytime in Haiti.

Full of the sense of time passing in the life of the narrator and his friends. A short course in Libyan history and culture given in the best way, through the persona of the narrator. Exile's sadness and security measures by the heart. Wonderful!

Wonderfully written, excellently performed, Annie Dunne is a great pleasure and a profound novel about aging and the many forms love and wisdom take.

Best Matthew Venn yet. Good characters and carefully plotted. A tad repetitive at times, as if Ms Cleeves doesn't trust us to remember the twists and turns--but we do.

An account of the author saving herself by learning, learning and expressing all she could about the city in which she lived temporarily and some remarkable artists had lived, worked, and died. New York and art, and the redemptive quality of the painful emotion of loneliness--these are some of the subjects of this wonderful book. Beautifully performed!
