Historia
This 2-in-1 box set collects both installments in Liv Zander's Pale Court duet: King of Flesh and Bone and Queen of Rot and Pain. This duology is a dark-fantasy romance featuring a ruthless man, a woman who can't escape his love, and a Happily Ever After. This world contains dark themes, violence, loss, and elements of horror some may find disturbing. What this book doesn't contain is a hero—because villains do it better.

dark romance for sure.
Revisado: 02-13-25
the author says villans do it better, and I believe she believes that. her villans are definitely villans, with love. the violence wasn't shocking, but the fmc's hesitancy for revenge was.

A commander who bled to defend her people, Ahnna is haunted by two beliefs. The first is that she failed to protect Ithicana from invasion. And the second is that saving her homeland means leaving it behind forever. The Maridrinians left Ithicana in ruins and its people impoverished. So when the wealthy kingdom of Harendell claims her as a bride for its crown prince, Ahnna is prepared to do whatever it takes to gain influence as the future queen. And to control the gold that comes with the throne.

cliffhanger ending. Not worth it.
Revisado: 11-01-24
If I would have known that it was a cliffhanger ending, I would have waited. She's on the run from being set up and he's in pursuit to kill her. The End. WHAT?! Thats not a romance. And wait 2 yrs for the punch line? no thanks. I liked the characters until the last chapters. .Now I hate them and don't intend to read any more. The sooner I forget about this series the better.

Historia
It’s not in my nature to beg, but I’ll stay on my knees until I feel that flame sputter out. And then … I’ll rip the world to shreds. I’ve tumbled into a darkness so deep it’s hard to see the light, my petals curling inward as I tip my face from the sun. Hide from my monstrous actions. Traitor. Murderer. High Mistress. My mistakes hunt me down, and I’m pulled into a political tug-of-war, balancing Ocruth’s welfare on the edge of a bloody blade. The moon is swelling, the weight on my shoulders is compacting, and my unfailing curiosity keeps weaving its roots in the wrong direction.

The lyrical and poetic style of writing.
Revisado: 10-03-24
Loves- the depth of plot, slow burn relationship for two morally gray MCs, doomed mates, world ending prophesy, seductively evil villian.
Could do without- at times, the descriptive flowery language is overwhelming and takes away from the flow of reading. It doesn't always take 6 sentences to say what could be said in 2. Knowing that difference is important. Drawing out too many scenes can make the reader impatient and frustrated... wanting to yell "I get the point!".

Historia
Sola Morte, former cat burglar and safecracker, has given up her old life on the wrong side of the law. On the run from a drug lord’s family, she is lying low far from Caldwell. Her heart, though, is back up North, with the only man who has ever gotten through her defenses: Assail, who never meant to fall in love - certainly not with a human woman. But they have no future, and not just because she doesn’t know he is a vampire, but because he is not about to stop dealing arms to the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Fate, however, has other plans for them.

Revisado: 01-08-24
Finally the story of Assail and Sola. Can't wait for more of these two and thier little family. Bonus story of V and Jane. And how relationships take work and maintenance or they can break down. Great addition to the overall series. Jim F does wonderful sexy voices. Love his Assail. Deep and a bit dark. It fits.
