Most of us think God is not concerned with what we eat, but the Bible actually offers great insight and instruction about the effects of food on our bodies. Dr. Colbert introduces a revolutionary sugar detox method, combined with an anti-inflammatory form of the modified Mediterranean diet that resolves a broad spectrum of diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, dementia, cancer, and osteoarthritis.

Great info, lots of lists were read, who’s if you’re not taking notes, will be hard ti remember. I wish there were PDFs to accompany this book as It’s hard to keep track, I’d recommend buying the paper copy of this book instead.

Historia
Daisy is a black baby adopted into a white family in rural 1970’s England. Alienation and loss of identity dominate her childhood. After discovering she was conceived through child rape, she begins a lifelong mission to find and prosecute her birth father using the only irrefutable evidence left. Her own DNA. But justice isn’t just for her birth mother. She too, is a victim, and when the world around her doesn’t agree, she is forced to reckon with external and internal powers out of her control.

I love her grit & determination to do the right thing, even if it did cost her dearly. Daisy brought up many ideas I’d never considered as an adoptive parent.

I thoroughly enjoyed the performance of this book, although I struggled at times with keeping track of the Vikings, their whereabouts, the rulers, their kin & the battles.

How did Lev Calder move from an unwillingly escaped Tithe to a clapper? In this revealing short story, Neal Shusterman opens a window on Lev’s adventures between the time he left CyFi and showed up at the Graveyard. Pulling elements from Neal Shusterman’s critically acclaimed Unwind and giving hints about what is to come in the riveting sequel, UnWholly, this short story is not to be missed.

I loved the character development in the res. I thought this would fill in the blanks between Joplin & the graveyard. It did, a little, but left me wanting more.

Historia
A powerful, moving memoir - and a practical guide to healing - written by Dr. Edith Eva Eger, an eminent psychologist whose own experiences as a Holocaust survivor help her treat patients and allow them to escape the prisons of their own minds. The Choice weaves Eger's personal story with case studies from her work as a psychologist. Her patients and their stories illustrate different phases of healing and show how people can choose to escape the prisons they construct in their minds and find freedom, regardless of circumstance.

Wow, no wonder my therapist recommended this book
Revisado: 08-16-23
As soon as I finished it, I immediately started to re-read it. I love this book for so many reasons. Not only is Dr Eger’s early years incredible, but I thoroughly enjoyed how she shared her healing journey with the reader. She also relayed her patients’ struggles, tying them into her or our healing journey as another example. She’s a remarkable woman & I have tremendous respect for her work. Someday, I hope I am able to forgive and move on.

Enlightening to a non-user—I never understood why users repeatedly hurt & used those closest to them. I often wondered why they couldn’t just quit; was it willpower, or lack there of? Jason’s story answered all that and most importantly, how he was able to recover.

Historia
In March 2000, a suitcase arrived at a children's Holocaust education center in Tokyo, Japan. On the outside, in white paint, were these words: Hana Brady, May 16, 1931, and Waisenkind - the German word for orphan. Children who saw the suitcase on display were full of questions. Who was Hana Brady? What happened to her? They wanted Fumiko Ishioka, the center's curator, to find the answers.

Truly remarkable story. I loved Fumiko’s perseverance and the children’s urging. I would’ve like to have known more about the suitcase’s donor. Who were they & how did they acquire it. So glad Hana’s brother was open to participate in telling the story.

Historia
Thirteen-year-old Steven has a totally normal life (well, almost): he drums in the All-Star Jazz Band, has a crush on the hottest girl in school (who doesn’t know he’s alive), frequently finds himself sitting across from his school counselor (who bribes him with candy), and is constantly annoyed by his five-year-old brother, Jeffrey (who is cuter than cute). But when Jeffrey gets sick, Steven’s world is turned upside down as he is forced to deal with his brother’s illness, his parents’ attempts to keep the family in one piece, the band, overdue homework, girls, and of course, Dangerous Pie.

Great Read: Laughs, Tears & Endearing Main Character
Revisado: 05-18-23
My son had to read this in school. He recommended it to me, thinking I would like it. The family’s personalities are similar to ours. My eldest son doesn’t particularly care for his 7-year younger brother who worships him. As a mom, I felt for
Steven & Jeffrey’s mom taking charge and dealing with her son’s cancer. I laughed & I cried., but I loved it. Looking to download the sequel.
