Historia
In the murky shadows of an alley lies a female’s severed hand. On the tenement rooftop above is the corpse belonging to that hand, a red-haired woman dressed all in black, the body nearly decapitated. Two strands of silver hair — not human — cling to her body. They are Rizzoli’s only clues, but they’re enough for her and medical examiner Maura Isles to make a startling discovery: This violent death had a chilling prequel.

somewhat disappointing
Revisado: 07-17-11
I have read all Rizzoli and Isles books long before the TV series was made. I liked the storyline, even though it was really easy to figure out who the murderer was. What I didn't like was the missing interaction between Rizzoli and Isles and even between Rizzoli and the rest of the family, which are only mentioned in passing. The main reason I read Tess Gerritsens Books is because of the interaction of the characters and the full cast of friends family and rivals to follow. Isles storyline I think is only there to prepare for the next book. I really hope that in the next book TG will go back to a real Rizzoli and Isles story

Historia
The intrepid Phoebe Siegel gets involved in the seamy side of Montana politics when she investigates the 25-year old murder of the wife of the man now running for governor. What Phoebe uncovers in the death of the young woman, a wallflower few mourned and fewer remember, is dangerously more than expected.
Challenged and threatened by what she's learned, Phoebe must also confront dramatic changes in her own life: her deepening relationship with Kyle Old Wolf, and her brother Michael's questions about his role as a priest. Even with her personal life in a whirl, Phoebe's persistence in the face of political adversity uncovers the truth.
This third novel in the Phoebe Siegel series firmly establishes Sandra West Prowell in the very top echelon of mystery writers.

very enjoyable mistery
Revisado: 06-30-09
This is the third book with Phoebe Siegel a P.I from Montana. She is hired to solve a murder, her detective father tried to solve a quarter of a century ago. As her investigation reveals some ugly truths, Phoebe rattles the cages of some of the Big Sky country's most powerful figures and risks her life many times over to see justice is served.
I liked this book not only because of the intriguing plot, but because Phoebe Siegel is a three-dimensional character with personal and family problems.Sandra Prowell introduces us to a full cast of unconventional characters and tells a sometimes sad story with a lot of wit.

This book is serious fun
Revisado: 09-29-08
A wonderful first novel with an enchanting protagonist,a young witch named Reason, who doesn't believe in magic. Equally compelling are Larbalestier's portraits ofher companions and the two cities in which Reason's adventures unfold: New York, and Sydney, Australia. It's not that Magic or Madness is full of jaw-dropping shockers, it's a quiet book. It's that you're never quite sure, through the entire book, what's going to happen next, or what the truth really is about any number of issues. Can't wait to listen to the rest of the trilogy to find out, who is good and who is evil...

good story-bad narator
Revisado: 09-04-08
I have to agree completely with nin. I really really loved Simon Jones as a narrator of the bartimeus trilogy. But he is terrible here. The woman all sound like men and the children are just ridiculous. Simon Russel Beale was just perfect for this series, so why change?

Historia
J.R. King's 12-year-old antihero turned hero, Arianna Kelt, is a reformed thief and wizard seer. Now you wouldn't think being a wizard seer would be such a big deal, but it is a big deal to the Wizards of Skyhall. For you see, those particular wizards are sworn to protect the citizens of Earth from all the things they shouldn't know about, namely wizards, warlocks, and all the creatures of the magical realms that no humans should know exist.

Revisado: 08-06-08
Even though I really love children's books I didn't like this one. The main characters, even Arianne herself, are flat and nondescript. How can you expect a 12 year old to be able to describe complicated feelings and so Arianna never really came to life for me.And I have to agree with Frances: This is such a terrible read. The narrator tells the hole story with the same ironic voice, that just doesn't work with this book. The author has some good ideas but I feel he should better have waited a few years and given himself and his story more time to mature.

fast paced
Revisado: 08-06-08
You know you ve read too many mystery novels when you can figure out most of the story after just one clue. Even so the story still held my interest and Barclay does throw in a few surprises and a few unexpected twists along the way.
Most importantly, Barclay builds strong characters that you can t help but care about.
Then, once you ve gotten to know the characters, the clues start dropping, and the pace picks up. And once it does, there is just no putting this book down. A nice summer read

I really liked listening to the first book Magyk. The story was fun and the narrator so amazing. He really brought the story to life. He did great voices for the characters and his "singing"... Too funny! Unfortunately they changed the narrator and though I liked the story, the listening experience was not as enjoyable as with the first book.

boring
Revisado: 11-13-06
This is the first book by Tara Moss I bought from Audible. The story about the former model turned PI is entertaining at best, but not very original. The characters are flat and the story is predictable. This is the first audio book I downloaded, where I didn't bother to rewind, when my thoughts wandered of, and this happened a lot because the reading by the author herself was so flat and boring and I couldn't tell one character from the other. A mediocre book can be made interesting by an excellent narrator, but this is just an average book read by a bad narrator

Historia
When the body of hotel owner Piet Jansen is discovered amid the ruins of an archaeological site by the Nile, it looks like a routine investigation for Inspector Yusuf Khalifa of the Luxor Police. But the more he learns about Jansen, the more he is reminded of the brutal murder, some years earlier, of an Israeli woman at Karnak for which he always suspected the wrong man was convicted.

I was a little afraid that with 20+ hours of listening I would find this book boring. But I loved every minute of it. The characters are lively and well drawn and you just have to keep listening to the unfolding of the story. Sussman manages to write not only an intelligent and suspenseful thriller but gives you something to think about long after the end of the book
