Little Herriot
Revisado: 11-08-22
I did not find James Herriot in this tale of the tribulations of Jason Davies. Oh sure, Herriot was mentioned a time or two, but having read Herriot, I expected Suit to present an American side of the veterinarian story. I expected tales of deworming pets and farm animals, What I got was a delousing of Davies love life.

Wrong voice
Revisado: 09-20-19
I like Scott Brick as a narrator, but not for this story. Scott's voice was heavy handed. At least, there should have been a higher voice part for the female dialog.

A Tired Tarzan
Revisado: 05-01-18
It took sixty years but I finally got around to reading the first two books in the Tarzan series. Maybe it's because I have read the science fiction of Asimov, Clarke, Heinlein, Norton, and Le Guinn, as well as Burroughs Barsoom series decades ago, but Tarzan proved to be a mighty chore I was glad to be done with. The books entire story arc revolves around a beach somewhere on the west coast of southern Africa. I opted to purchase the stories because I simply could not believe that the Tarzan movies imbecilic depiction of Tarzan (Weissmuller) was accurate. It wasn't, making the movies inaccurate, stupid, and no longer watchable. I pray the celluloid decays beyond all viewing.
As to the books, after an interminable childhood and young adulthood, with too many mighty muscles, Tarzan literally meets Jane. The only good thing I can say about that is that nowhere does he say, "Me Tarzan, you Jane." They leave the little hut on the coast, travel their separate ways and then guess what? They wind up back in the little hut on the coast again. That stupid little hut is like a black hole around which the entire universe circles. Leave, fall back into the hut. Mighty muscles carry them away but they come back to the hut. If I NEVER hear the phrase "mighty muscles" again it will be far too soon.

Historia
In an era of hardening religious attitudes and explosive religious violence, this book offers a welcome antidote. Richard Holloway retells the entire history of religion - from the dawn of religious belief to the 21st century - with deepest respect and a keen commitment to accuracy. Writing for those with faith and those without, and especially for young listeners, he encourages curiosity and tolerance, accentuates nuance and mystery and calmly restores a sense of the value of faith.

Worth rewinding
Revisado: 09-12-16
I found it a fascinating listen. I was aware of the commonality of many religions ... the ten commandments were practiced, minus the silliness about god and the sabboth, long before Moses struck them in stone.

Historia
Neil deGrasse Tyson has a talent for guiding readers through the mysteries of outer space with stunning clarity and almost childlike enthusiasm. This collection of his essays from Natural History magazine explores a myriad of cosmic topics. Tyson introduces us to the physics of black holes by explaining what would happen to our bodies if we fell into one; he also examines the needless friction between science and religion, and notes Earth's status as "an insignificantly small speck in the cosmos".

Great pre-story to the Foundation series. But ... Asimov is terrible in writing dialog and developing character that depends on narrative. His dialogue is straight out of the 1930s starring Wallace Beery and Jackie Cooper.
