I love the combination of Christmas values, tradition & souther Gullah charm. I've read this book twice before downloading it. Miss Dorthea told such beautiful stories.

Historia
The sound of snapping twigs closed in on the five teenagers enjoying an evening around a glowing campfire at Gitchie Manitou State Park. The night of music and laughter had taken a dark turn. Evil loomed just beyond the tree line, and before the night was over, one of the Midwest's most horrific mass murders had left its bloodstains spewed across the campsite. One managed to survive and would come to be known as the "Gitchie Girl".

I live in NW Iowa but have always been afraid to visit Gitchie Manitou. Despite the horrors, reading that Sandra could transcend all she went through and live a life of faithfulness really put me at ease.

Thrilling!
Revisado: 05-26-22
Such a compelling story, it was so hard for me totake breaks from listening!
The narrator read too fast at times. but that only happened during exciting parts of the story & maybe that was her intention.
I loved it & I will recommend.

Texas, 1921. A time of abundance. The Great War is over, the bounty of the land is plentiful, and America is on the brink of a new and optimistic era. But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Historia
Life often looks so very different than we hoped or expected. Some events may simply catch us off guard for a season, but others shatter us completely. We feel disappointed and disillusioned at best and overwhelmed and hopeless at worst. We quietly start to wonder about the reality of God’s goodness and why he allows us to suffer and experience grief and loss. Lysa TerKeurst understands this deeply. But after many tears, godly counseling, and prayerful seeking, she's also discovered that our disappointments can be the divine appointments our souls need to radically encounter God.

Revisado: 04-09-21
I listened to this book awhile back, seeking a woman's perspective on following God's plan for our lives.
Rachel's book is an honest story about her personal journey. And there is no denying she's worked hard for her life and her family.
I just didn't find what I was looking for.
Her message speaks to feeding your inner goddess and being your best self.

Historia
Dave Rubin launched his political talk show The Rubin Report in 2015 as a meeting ground for free thinkers who realize that partisan politics is a dead end. He hosts people he both agrees and disagrees with - including those who have been dismissed, deplatformed, and despised - taking on the most controversial issues of our day. As a result, he’s become a voice of reason in a time of madness. Now, Rubin gives you the tools you need to think for yourself in an age when tribal outrage is the only available alternative.

Revisado: 01-05-21
Thank you Dave Rubin for this book, I love it. I really appreciate your commitment to freedom and common sense!
I found The Rubin Report this past summer and have become a dedicated fan. This book was great and provided more insight to Dave's experience leaving "the left" while still identifying as a liberal.
If you're struggling to find allies in today's political climate, I suggest you get this this book.
