Unreal imagination
Revisado: 04-30-25
Sometimes this book feels like a tapestry that is sprinting away from me when I am trying to comprehend its depths and intersections of threading. In the end you need to stop TRYING to keep up and let him take you on the journey, not matter how quickly the tack changes. Mark Lawrence is an expert craftsman and much needed voice of humanity in the times we are living in. King of imagination. Thanks for this series

Historia
Viv's career with the notorious mercenary company Rackam's Ravens isn't going as planned. Wounded during the hunt for a powerful necromancer, she's packed off against her will to recuperate in the sleepy beach town of Murk—so far from the action that she worries she'll never be able to return to it. What's a thwarted soldier of fortune to do? Spending her hours at a beleaguered bookshop in the company of its foul-mouthed proprietor is the last thing Viv would have predicted, but it may be both exactly what she needs and the seed of changes she couldn't possibly imagine.

Warm Pastry
Revisado: 11-29-23
Was so excited to go to bed each night so I could listen to this one. Loved the backstory. Loves the characters. I just want to eat warm pastry and read a book in a chair, this book.

Historia
The boy has lived his whole life trapped within a book-choked chamber older than empires and larger than cities. The girl has been plucked from the outskirts of civilization to be trained as a librarian, studying the mysteries of the great library at the heart of her kingdom. They were never supposed to meet. But in the library, they did. Their stories spiral around each other, across worlds and time. This is a tale of truth and lies and hearts, and the blurring of one into another.

Intricate and imaginative
Revisado: 08-27-23
Really loved this book. The author wove an complex and interweaving story that spans time and space. That being said, it was occasionally hard to follow all of the threads and paint the whole picture. Might have to listen to it again. So many twists and turns and subverting expectations.
I LOVE the narration. She’s perfect.

Historia
“Can I kiss you?” It was two months before the world premiere of Juno, and Elliot Page was in his first ever queer bar. The hot summer air hung heavy around him as he looked at her. And then it happened. In front of everyone. A previously unfathomable experience. Here he was on the precipice of discovering himself as a queer person, as a trans person. Getting closer to his desires, his dreams, himself, without the repression he’d carried for so long. But for Elliot, two steps forward had always come with one step back.

Helplessly Gay
Revisado: 10-15-22
I’ve been waiting on the edge of my seat for the second book. This story and Tasha Suris words make me feel helplessly and irrevocably gay. Thank you so much for bringing this story to life.

Doesn’t pass the Bechdel test
Revisado: 03-27-22
This series would be elevated to another dimension if Jordan wasnt creepy any horny about all of the women in the series. Whenever women talk it’s about men, always centering men. It’s incredibly frustrating and cringe. If any of you reading this comment are fantasy writers PLEASE WRITE WOMEN WHOS EVEY THOUGHT DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND MEN. It’s fucking boring. The women could be the most powerful element to this story but he holds them back with every, “ample bosom and pretty ankles.” Like what’s up with all the ankle talk.
Amazing world building but he falls short at delving deep into the internal lives of his characters.
