Historia
Annie Bot was created to be the perfect girlfriend for her human owner Doug. Designed to satisfy his emotional and physical needs, she has dinner ready for him every night, wears the pert outfits he orders for her, and adjusts her libido to suit his moods. True, she’s not the greatest at keeping Doug’s place spotless, but she’s trying to please him. She’s trying hard.

Mild erotica, decent story. Not sci-fi.
Revisado: 02-06-25
A variation on slavery- how will android feel? The domestic abuse story is simplified by the woman being a robot: there is no need to explain why she is in this situation. This is not how an android would think, though. The author describes herself yanked out of the modern world and stuffed into an android shell. There is the usual trope is that men are inherently evil. The narrator can't do male voices well- they are always menacing or severely constipated. Otherwise she sounds fine.

Tedious. Sci-fi tech of the 1950s.
Revisado: 01-31-25
The first part is reasonably done as hard science sci-fi, but it is also — predictably—hard to read.
The technology is highly outdated or mechanical to the point of silliness.
If you can finish reading this book, there has to be a reward for endurance.
The first half is read by a woman, and all male voices sound like constipated drag queens.
The second narrator sounded fine.

Solid story with intriguing beginning and predictable remainder of the book.
Decent narration, a couple slip ups with voices of characters. Not sure if PA announcement voice adds or subtracts from experience.

Historia
When Murderbot discovers a dead body on Preservation Station, it knows it is going to have to assist station security to determine who the body is (was), how they were killed (that should be relatively straightforward, at least), and why (because apparently that matters to a lot of people - who knew?). Yes, the unthinkable is about to happen: Murderbot must voluntarily speak to humans! Again!

Stale and predictable
Revisado: 04-05-24
This bag of sci fi potato chips feels stale. No new ideas, the ‘big surprise’ was too obvious, perhaps partly due to poor choice of image for book cover.
It seemed more tedious than the prior installments. What is worse, the humor side of narrative did not feel as much fun as in prior books. Incidentally, that part will be lost if book turned inti a show and probably was the most fun of the whole series.
The narrator did a good job reading, but nothing special.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Adult fairy tale.
Revisado: 03-03-24
A feel-good fairy tale. Complete with magical creature. All characters are positive and kind- hearted.
The best people are, obviously, the two genitors.
Starts a bit slow for simple story like that, but makes you feel good in the end.

Historia
Sci-fi's favorite antisocial AI is back on a mission. The case against the too-big-to-fail GrayCris Corporation is floundering, and more importantly, authorities are beginning to ask more questions about where Dr. Mensah's SecUnit is. And Murderbot would rather those questions went away. For good. Martha Wells' Rogue Protocol is the third in the Murderbot Diaries series, starring a humanlike android who keeps getting sucked back into adventure after adventure, though it just wants to be left alone, away from humanity and small talk.

Historia
At first, Logan Ramsay isn’t sure if anything’s different. He just feels a little . . . sharper. Better able to concentrate. Better at multitasking. Reading a bit faster, memorizing better, needing less sleep. But before long, he can’t deny it: Something’s happening to his brain. To his body. He’s starting to see the world, and those around him—even those he loves most—in whole new ways. The truth is, Logan’s genome has been hacked. And there’s a reason he’s been targeted for this upgrade.

Good action, but tedious and far fetched.
Revisado: 01-12-24
The main style problem is granular description of genes, guns etc. The story takes place 50-100 years in the future, so those cutting edge things the author researched will be obsolete or mundane.
Logically there are a few key flaws, which mar otherwise solid science fiction (not many authors can actually write truly scientific stories).
Main one - time dilation perception. Author amalgamated perceived time slowing in memory with higher neural function and assumed that spreading your attention will cause time to slow down for you in real life. This notion is silly, much like computer, adding more parallel tasks does not improve liner task efficiency.
Another, more philosophical- calculating that humanity is doomed in 100 years is a folly. He is describing world similar to ours now. Just read history of plaques, world wars and such. People were truly evil and their numbers dwindled low many, many times. Would be more believable if there was an asteroid coming or nuclear doomsday clock activated by some superpower- some factor other than humans being flawed.

2/3 should be edited out
Revisado: 12-16-23
Alien thoughts and biology ideas always interesting. The rest of the book was quite boring fantasy on matters of intergalactic politics, which somehow simply resembles politics inside any third world country.
One of the 3 main characters is completely unnecessary, does not add anything to interesting part.
The narrator overdid with accents and occasionally got confused who she was reading for so accents would blur in the middle of the sentence.

I found this book to be really fun and made me laugh in the car. However, it was very predictable, and the big reveal toward the end of the book was unrealistic. The handling of the situation by the main adult characters was really hard to believe. I still love listening to it though!
