Reminds me of Tom Goodwin's "The Gulf Between" about a man stuck in full acceleration. But that man has a robot doctor aboard that keeps him alive, and conscious, as he flies off into eternity.

The performance is near as good as the book. Wow. I am on my fourth reading of the series. I've done traditional and audio. Roy D. is fantastic. Can't recommend this strongly enough.
