Unabashedly lacking in moral quandary, very feel-good, and chocked full of a variety of humor from start to finish. My favorite bits were the quick references that managed to slip juust naturally enough into the narrative that they don't call attention to themselves, but nonetheless make you do a slight double take and squint when you catch them.

(Very minor, non-plot spoilers in this paragraph) - My only complaint is that some of the references were perhaps a little TOO unsubtle, and I'm sure I missed some of them. The Igors are, of course, a very good concept, but lifted almost directly from Terry Pratchett. The koblin is unmistakably characterized as a goblin from Final Fantasy XIV. The characters work well in the story and contribute well to the overall vibe, but I hope more is done with them in the future to differentiate them from their source material. There's a lot of original stuff here mixed together in a highly entertaining way, and I'd like to see more of it.

Overall easy 9/10, a very chill, funny, light-hearted, and enjoyable listen; I'm looking forward to the second book! Travis Baldree was also an excellent choice of narrator - I might have missed this book otherwise, since I found it by looking around at his recent work! A shame there is only one Travis Baldree to go around, really.

Really ended up being a fun series of books. The story sometimes wanders a bit and goes all over the place, but the sidetracking is almost universally enjoyable. The humor, references, and plays on various cliches was pretty fun even at the worst of times. However, I felt the strongest part of the books was the overall character arc of Victor and Vainqueur. It's extremely satisfying to have characters actually change and progress over the course of a series, and I really enjoyed their progression. It was extremely refreshing, as nothing is more frustrating than flawed characters who refuse to change or develop in any way.

Enjoyable read with some entertaining characters and a unique premise. Definitely worth reading if you already listened to the first two books in the series. I feel like this series has improved a little as it has gone, and the pacing has remained very quick throughout. So far seems to be avoiding pacing issues that many LitRPG can fall into, and it feels like the story is building towards something. Looking forward to the next one!
