Historia
We all want people to do stuff. Whether you want your customers to buy from you, vendors to give you a good deal, your employees to take more initiative, or your spouse to make dinner-a large amount of every day is about getting the people around you to do stuff. Instead of using your usual tactics that sometimes work and sometimes don't, what if you could harness the power of psychology and brain science to motivate people to do the stuff you want them to do - even getting people to want to do the stuff you want them to do?

Interesting stories, but mostly common sense advice
Revisado: 02-18-23
It is an interesting story of the life experience of a person who gained it both through personal experience and also through his profession which allowed him to view the world through the eyes of others, especially those who have encountered hardships in their life.
Sadly, once reading the book you will likely find that it contains a lot of common sense explanations.
This book is favorited by those who need guidance in their life - young people who didn’t receive proper guidance in their life so far, or people who have been dealt hardships in their life and are looking for a way to persevere through them.
So, unless you belong to those groups, you will most likely not learn anything new from this book and find it to be teaching common sense.

In Originals he again addresses the challenge of improving the world, but now from the perspective of becoming original: choosing to champion novel ideas and values that go against the grain, battle conformity, and buck outdated traditions. How can we originate new ideas, policies, and practices without risking it all?

Not original
Revisado: 02-08-23
For a book called “Originals”, the thoughts and ideas presented in this book were surprisingly unoriginal. The author explained ideas already mentioned by other authors, and presented what seemed to be cherrypicked anecdotes to make questionable conclusions.

Business advice with specific examples
Revisado: 01-03-23
The author offers specific examples from personal experience for solving some common issues that arise in companies when leading teams. As promised in the beginning of the book, it managed to deliver both breadth (which may be repetitive to most great advice on business and strategy mentioned in other books) and depth (specific examples from personal experience).

Paul Jarvis left the corporate world when he realized that working in a high-pressure, high profile world was not his idea of success. In Company of One, Jarvis explains how you can find the right pathway to do the same, including planning how to set up your shop, determining your desired revenues, dealing with unexpected crises, keeping your key clients happy, and of course, doing all of this on your own. Company of One is a refreshingly new approach centered on staying small and avoiding growth, for any size business.

If you want to discover how to detect when some people uses lies and manipulation, then pay attention. Two manuscripts in one audiobook: Part one of this audiobook helps you to understand what is meant by “psychological warfare” and how it affects you and the people you love. Part two of this audiobook will show you how Machiavellian people are adept at hiding the truth from you, and how they manipulate, persuade, and negotiate with other people.

Shallow overview of many broad topics
Revisado: 01-01-23
I expected this book to provide an in-depth review of psychological warfare, such as propaganda, media, government, political communication. Instead, it only briefly mentioned these topics, while the majority of the book talked about 1on1 communications with other people. And even these topics were only touched lightly. The book was reminiscent of a collection of Wikipedia articles.

History from the perspective of the economy
Revisado: 12-30-22
Ray Dalio offers interesting insights by looking at historical data of how political and technological advances, combined with human nature, have influenced the economical cycles of the world’s most powerful countries and empires.
It is reminiscent of Henry Kissinger’s “World Order”, but Ray Dalio looks at how historical events and political turbulences influence our lives from an economic perspective, and also how the economy influences political events as well.
