Historia
Having barely escaped the clutches of the undead, the survivors of The Breadwinner are headed into the unknown to continue their search for solace in the post-apocalyptic landscape. Once a paradise for the living, the city of Haven is now crawling with flesh hungry creatures; yet it could be their only hope. Veronica, Samson and the others take a chance on the promises of Gary, a solitary survivor. Is the light-hearted newcomer all that he seems or are there sinister motives hidden behind his hospitality?

Really enjoyed this
Revisado: 08-23-15
What made the experience of listening to Haven the most enjoyable?
I enjoyed the narrator. He gave a perspective through his expressive and characters that wouldn't be there if I had read it myself.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Haven?
Hearing the changes in everyone at the end of the book was eye opening. It raised questions and opened doors as to what is to come.
Which scene was your favorite?
When the two groups of survivors came together I was excited but disappointed. Although there was hope, there was loss.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed Haven. It is part 2 in the breadwinner trilogy and continues on from the end of the first book. It is written in three parts and tells the continuing story of the first group of survivors but also introduces us to a new set of people, telling their story from when everything falls apart. I like the way this book is written and believe it tells a bigger story than the first. It also opens up questions for book 3.

I loved this audiobook.
Revisado: 07-18-15
What did you love best about How to Bake the Perfect Pecan Pie?
I could relate to idea of family and holidays. Lauren's family reminded me of mine.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Lauren's grandmother. I hope to be as plucky as her when I grow older.
What about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?
Everything. She is a great narrator and I have enjoyed both books I have heard her narrate.
Any additional comments?
Lauren is home at her parents house for the Thanksgiving holiday and it is everything every family should be. There is food, laughter, unique relatives and meddling. Lots of meddling. Lauren is asked to bake the Hauser family secret recipe Pecan Pie the day before Thanksgiving but Lauren can't cook, she can't get enough pecans, and the car breaks down. This meddling helps Lauren to meet Jack and that's when the story really begins.

If you could sum up The Village Idiot Reviews in three words, what would they be?
Quick, amusing, and unique.
Any additional comments?
I really enjoy this review format. The stories are funny and connected so it really does tell a lengthy story. I had quite a good laugh while listening to them and can't wait to hear the sequel. The narrator is also great with some brilliant accents and characterisations being used.

We've all seen the news over the last few years, watching in wonder and disbelief at the situations the people entrusted to run the country get themselves into and then proceed to lie their way out of. Just imagine--and this won't be hard--that they were so stupid they wrote reviews of the items that got them into or out of their latest bits of trouble and posted them online.

If you’ve listened to books by Pete Sortwell before, how does this one compare?
This is not one of my favourite Pete Sortwell books. The idea for and format for the book were good but the content just wasn't as good as other work I have experienced.
Have you listened to any of Tony Scheinman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is my first experience with Tony Scheinman's work and found him to be very good.
Any additional comments?
This was an amusing set of reviews by government officials. It didn't have me in stitches but I wasn't bored.

Definitely erotic
Revisado: 07-07-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this to fans of erotica but not to anyone looking for a romance. It was sexual, sensual and suspenseful which kept me wanting more. Yes it is based on the story of Cinderella but very loosely. The story isn't brilliant but it keeps you listening and wanting more. Definitely for fans of erotica, the language is not what your nana would listen to.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Glass Slipper?
When Dorian came with the glass slipper. The way they were eyeing each other was fantastic.
Any additional comments?
Don't expect a romantic love story. You will get lust and sex but not romance. I received a copy of this Audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. I really enjoyed this audiobook. Cited as a new version Pride and Prejudice by many people, I had never read it so i can't comment on any similarities. I can say that this historical romance had me enthralled from the opening scene where Elizabeth is demonstrating her independence to the ending where everything turns out as it should. What happens in between is romantic, exciting, and funny. The language is true to the time and the characters are captivating and engaging. .
What was one of the most memorable moments of He Taught Me to Hope: Darcy and the Young Knight's Quest?
When Ben went missing as this was a turning point in the relationships in the book.
What about Pearl Hewitt’s performance did you like?
The narrator is expert at create a multitude of representations to further enhance the characters. I particularly enjoyed her representation of Ben.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Ann realised that Elizabeth, Darcy and Ben really are a family.

Revisado: 07-04-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Banished Love to be better than the print version?
I haven't the print version but imagine that the expression from the narrator adds to the experience.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Clarissa - her independence at this time in history is amazing but she is still vulnerable and wants to open herself to love.
Which character – as performed by Lauren Mccullough – was your favorite?
Clarissa's father. I loved the way her was performed.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The final scene as the book was ending. I can't say more for fear of spoiling it for others.

Yes. My kids (5 and 9) really enjoyed it and I thought it's message about teamwork and positive thinking was great.
Which character – as performed by Tracy Elman – was your favorite?
We had no favourites. All characters were performed well.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I felt warm and fuzzy as this book finished.
Any additional comments?
This was a lovely Christmas story that is a little different from other books. It brings a story of teamwork to Christmas and shows children that even when things go wrong we can look for the positive and find a way through. I enjoyed the narration which was bright and bubbly.

Threatened by French spies, assassins, and calculating suitors, can Lady Henrietta Harcourt trust the infamous rake, Lord Cordelier Rathbourne, with her carefully guarded family secrets? In his new, undisclosed position as Director of English Intelligence, Cord faces more peril keeping the brilliant Harcourt family of code breakers safe than he did as undercover spy in Napoleonic France. Has spies and action but is more of a romance.
Revisado: 07-02-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes but as a romance rather than an action or spy book.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Although this book does contain spies, intrigue and a super smart heroine, the major focus is the romance that develops between the two main characters, Henrietta and Cord. Set well over a century ago, both characters are fiercely independent and protective of their families. They have experienced loss but are yet to experience love. I enjoyed the discussions that occurred about why each character was the way that they were. Learning the background and personal history.
What about Pearl Hewitt’s performance did you like?
I enjoyed the expression that Pearl uses. I find that her voice is lovely to listen to and that she is able to create a vision of how the author intended the book should be heard.

Would you consider the audio edition of Liverpool Connection to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version but the narrator brought the characters to life in such a way that the audio would be just as good or better.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I found the part of the book when the bombs first hit London to be particularly moving.
Any additional comments?
This is an honest and heart wrenching story of the trials and tribulations experienced by those during the war. The writing was detailed and the characters were real. I spent a good portion of this book on the verge of tears but it is not soppy.
