Historia
The last person Alice Shipley expected to see since arriving in Tangier with her new husband was Lucy Mason. After the accident at Bennington, the two friends - once inseparable roommates - haven't spoken in over a year. Lucy - always fearless and independent - helps Alice emerge from her flat and explore the country. But soon a familiar feeling starts to overtake Alice - she feels controlled and stifled by Lucy at every turn. Then Alice's husband, John, goes missing, and Alice starts to question everything around her.

Dynamic reading telling performance
Revisado: 09-15-22
This book was phenomenal and artfully descriptive. The author used subtlety and suspense in creative ways to slowly build the sense of the characters and reveal hidden sinister and naive elements in the protagonists. While the narration was just as charismatic and enjoyable as the writing, i was annoyed that I could determine the main antagonist from the voice chosen by the narrator for one of the characters. She used a dark, calculating, dry voice whenever the character was saying something that related to her deceptions. The voice acting helped me pick up on the antagonist earlier than i think i was supposed to or otherwise would have if the words were read with simpler voices that didn’t give as much away. on text it likely would have taken me longer to suspect the main antagonist and i felt like i’d been robbed of the discovery in some ways. There were a few themes not central to the plot that the author did not seem to take any stances on , but beyond these things I was thoroughly satisfied with the story. Good to read, good to listen too.

Historia
Do you want to break free from your addictions? If so, you need to optimize your brain. The brain plays a central role in your vulnerability to addiction and your ability to recover. Brain dysfunction is the number one reason people fall victim to addiction, why they can't break the chains of addiction, and why they relapse.

Decent read
Revisado: 04-16-21
this book had many helpful tips and tricks that I think are best suited for people who are either in treatment and looking for encouragement and were encouraged to read this book or for people trying to break less serious addictions. I only found 2 or 3 things that I was compelled to try in it. the oration becomes a bit tiresome and grating after several hours of continuous listening and listening through the appendix was a bore. though I ultimately trust the advice and expertise offered, the shameless plugs for products offered by the clinic whose principles seem to be behind the book rubbed me the wrong way. though that does not logically make any of the advice less scientifically sound or good for you, it did make it more difficult to emotionally distinguish the author from many snake oil salesmen that publish self help books that encourage additional purchases from affiliated services.
TLDR- good advice, decent read

Historia
Eleven-year-old George Washington Black—or Wash—a field slave on a Barbados sugar plantation, is initially terrified when he is chosen as the manservant of his master’s brother. To his surprise, however, the eccentric Christopher Wilde turns out to be a naturalist, explorer, inventor, and abolitionist. Soon Wash is initiated into a world where a flying machine can carry a man across the sky, where even a boy born in chains may embrace a life of dignity and meaning, and where two people, separated by an impossible divide, can begin to see each other as human.

Decent
Revisado: 01-11-21
the story is a wonderful bildungsroman but I fail to see the authors Ultimate point in writing it. at the end I saw that there was a freedom of mind and spirit that the author wanted to bring the character to beyond the legal freedom but in the end washington's struggle feels meaningless to me. Good and entertaining story, but the underlying theory falls flat.
