Historia
Ranging on horseback across the desert-like Tarped land, and known by their green sombreros, Paladinos protect the Tarp, empowered to kill cutters at their own discretion. There is no due process for cutters—the Paladinos are judge, jury, and executioner. You cut the Tarp, you die. El Paladino—he's known by no other name—has a problem. El Gotico is not your usual cutter, but a ruthless bandito who deals in forbidden technology.

Trigger warning
Revisado: 08-12-22
This story is raw and gritty, set in a post apocalyptic desert where climate change has had a visceral impact upon the landscape and its inhabitants. The characters move through un mundo at once reminiscent of "Mad Max" and "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly." This story is inclusive of nearly all genders, sexual preferences, and backgrounds- no one is spared from the violence and casual rape that occurs throughout this novel. While the dialog feels a little stilted at first, you'll quickly get into the swing of the banter, and the slang is quite amusing, especially once the references are made clear.
Truly, this story has stuck with me since finishing it. I will most definitely re-listen to it soon, which is the highest compliment I can pay it.

Historia
When a banished witch falls in love with the legendary trickster Loki, she risks the wrath of the gods in this moving, subversive debut novel that reimagines Norse mythology. Angrboda’s story begins where most witches' tales end: with a burning. A punishment from Odin for refusing to provide him with knowledge of the future, the fire leaves Angrboda injured and powerless, and she flees into the farthest reaches of a remote forest. There she is found by a man who reveals himself to be Loki, and her initial distrust of him transforms into a deep and abiding love.

Masterful
Revisado: 08-05-22
This book, its narration, and its attention to detail make it a singularly delightful experience. It is cunning and skillfully woven throughout the tapestry of Norse Mythology with such exquisite mastery. I listened to it twice through just to appreciate it in full.

Historia
As soon as they stepped off the boat in New York, Irish immigrants Jim Leary and his brother Billy were conscripted into the Union Aero Corps, forced to fight in a civil war they had no interest in. Ten years later, with the war finally over and America divided into two nations, each brother believes the other died in combat. Jim Leary, now calling himself "Captain Gallagher", has taken to the air over the southwestern American territories in a stolen airship, leading the life of a pirate, the bane of both the Union and the fledgling Confederate States of America.

This story was full of great action sequences, and relatable characters. The technical descriptions of ships were detailed without being overwhelming. The language was a bit course (probably realistic) but if you listen with young'ens in the car, wait til you're alone for this book. (they say, "Fuck" a lot).
Love the strong female lead, the narrator really brings her to life. I also enjoyed the presence of Doc Holliday. Overall, worth the price of admission.
