Historia
An all-new, full-cast dramatization of the classic graphic novel. The isolated town of Barrow, Alaska, is plunged into darkness for a month each year when the sun sinks below the horizon. As the last rays of light fade, the town is attacked by a bloodthirsty gang of vampires bent on an uninterrupted orgy of destruction. Only Barrow's husband-and-wife sheriff team stand between the survivors and certain destruction. . By the time the sun rises, will they pay the ultimate price - or worse?

Just okay
Revisado: 01-13-23
It’s been years since I’ve seen the movie and I haven’t read the original book (comic?) so listening to this left me a little confused at times. It feels very abridged! It’s a fun concept and starts off strong but I feel like it gets weaker once the vampires show up and it’s the town hiding. There’s definitely not as much tension in this format vs the movie.

Do you wake up in the morning and still feel tired? Do your supposedly relaxing activities actually just feel like another thing to check off that to-do-list? Do you feel like you never really have time to recharge? It’s time to rethink rest! Rest is no longer about just getting a good night’s sleep or taking an evening to relax on the couch and watch TV. It’s a radical act of self-care that asks you to take into account all the different aspects of yourself that need to rest and take a break. And The Little Book of Rest has everything you need to get started.

A relatively short but enjoyable read. Some basic ideas and some I had not heard of before. Just the kind of book I was looking to listen to during some stressful times and give me some ideas to embrace rest.

Historia
It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend. One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered. But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.

Surprisingly sweet
Revisado: 11-07-22
I had seen recommendations for this book in the cozy fantasy reddit and even though it was nothing like what I’d been reading I wanted something short and sweet to start off fall. And this book delivered!
It’s a little slow to start, introducing you to the world, and I was confused at first by the non gendered referral to the main character, but the world and Dex drew me in. By the time the robot comes I was absolutely sold! Such an interesting look at philosophies and ideas of personhood and comfort and finding one’s purpose in life. By the end I had a giant grin on my face. And it left me wanting more!

Emmy Award-winning actress Tatiana Maslany narrates a brand-new special edition recording of the first audiobook in the worldwide best-selling trilogy from Suzanne Collins! In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Definitely worth the listen!
Revisado: 03-13-19
I was wary of buying this edition as I already had the original audiobook but I loved Tatiana’s work on Orphan Black and decided it was worth buying it again to hear her take on the story.
I’m glad I decided to do that as Tatiana’s performance is wonderful! She brings a younger quality to Katniss, and does a good job helping you really feel like you’re in Katniss’ head and jumping between all her emotions. Her Captial accents are fun without being ridiculous. And her singing to Rue was unexpected but lovely and full of emotion.
So even if you’ve listened before, I highly recommend this version of the story! And I hope Tatiana might be persuaded to come back and record the rest of the series!

An okay story elevated by the reader
Revisado: 06-17-16
This book is an okay adaptation of the video game imo. It feels a bit rushed in places. Going from fight to fight to fight can get a little confusing at times. I'd definitely recommend playing the game before listening as it helped me to be able to remember scenes visually.
Favorite scenes: Starkiller fighting the exiled Jedi Masters. The one Mastee who's made an entire council out of junk was particularly strange and sad, while Shaak Ti & her apprentice were suitably badass. Davis' performance was definitely a high point for me. He does a good job bringing emotions to the characters in between the crazy background noises of lightsaber buzzing and animals hissing ect. His Kota voice was particularly good.
So overall I'd say this was a fun book but being that I don't think it's considered canon anymore I wouldn't rush out to buy it asap or put it on any top 10 lists. Wait and come at this story once you already have some other books/SW history under your belt.
