Remarkable Creatures is one of my favorite books.
Revisado: 12-30-23
This book reminds us of so many things that affect our lives as women. I came late to my facisation with digging for dinosaurs and actually visiting many places that have satisfied with looking down to find the treasures that they are.
Ms. Chevalier brings the story of two strong women that through their lives learn to stand up for themselves and each other. Mary Anning is a woman that I look up to.

Would make a great movie!
Revisado: 08-24-22
There were so many things I liked about this Audible Book. I had wanted to give the book a try because I haven't started reading Louise Penny yet and the bonus was Hillary Rodham Clinton as a co-author. The reading was so well done by Joan Allen, the story line drew from current political situations not only in the USA but the Middle East and beyond. I love a good mystery as well as suspense and this book gives you so much more right through to the last page. Thoroughly enjoyable. As I stated above this book would be a great movie!

I really enjoyed this podcast and listening to Sting tell his own story and in his own voice. He is a very interesting person and I especially loved hearing where his songs come from within his life.

When I was young I remembered my Mother watching a television show called The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. When I saw this title in Audible I knew that I had to give it a listen. As I listened the show came back to me with the actors and the scenery. I love this story as well as the period and location. it's terribly romantic and an excellent listen.

Historia
In 1984, a doomsday vault was constructed on a remote island in the Arctic Ocean. Its purpose was to preserve Earth's genetic history in the event of a global catastrophe. Now, decades later, a second vault has been uncovered, this one resting where no one ever expected. And the problem is it's not ours. Yet even more curious than the vault itself is what lies inside. Seeds. Millions of seeds. Each with a genetic embryo untouched and perfectly preserved. Waiting.

You'll be hooked on this great adventure!
Revisado: 04-07-20
This series had popped up on suggestions for audio books I might enjoy listening to. Actually I read the story line for each h of the first three books and just wasn't sure. I have been a loyal customer for Audible Book most of the last thirteen years. What an exciting and delightful series this is providing to be. The characters are so very real building with each new book in the series. I would suggest that anyone who enjoys a great adventure will be hooked from Breakthrough, Book #1.

On a day that begins like any other, Hal receives a mysterious letter bequeathing her a substantial inheritance. She realizes very quickly that the letter was sent to the wrong person - but also that the cold-reading skills she's honed as a tarot card reader might help her claim the money. Soon, Hal finds herself at the funeral of the deceased...where it dawns on her that there is something very, very wrong about this strange situation and the inheritance at the center of it. Full of spellbinding menace and told in Ruth Ware's signature suspenseful style, an addictive thriller.

A true thriller right to the end!
Revisado: 10-04-18
This book will become an English classic. Written in present day Brighton, England is the story of a young woman with little means to survive on her own after the death of her mother. She is a Tarot card reader whose life suddenly becomes a web of promise, doubt, suspense and fear when a lawyers letter arrives with the promise of an inheritance. As in everyday life nothing ever comes easily and in Hal's case so the story goes when she is introduced to a family she never knew she had. Her situation draws you in. The characters are well drawn and very believable. The fear, questions and terror she faces become very real. As she often falls back to her Tarot cards and her instinct to trust what they are telling her this thriller weaves a story that holds the reader through to the end of the book.

For me this story is a refreshing escape to a charming past.
Revisado: 10-04-18
Thornyhold is one of my favorite books. The story is very well polished like an old English fairytale would be. The charming ties between the simple life of a somewhat deprived Vicar's daughter and her mysterious and concerned Aunt are the centerpiece of this tale. Within the story lay the ingredients that makes it come alive with inheritance, family secrets, witchcraft and a hint of the love for a happily ever after ending can promise. In the world that we live in today a story like Thornyhold removes the reader to a more gentle past life and time. For me an escape that is so refreshing.

Historia
When Police Sergeant Hamish Macbeth hears reports of a haunted castle near Drim, he assumes the eerie noises and lights reported by the villagers are just local teenagers going there to smoke pot or, worse, inject themselves with drugs. Still, Hamish decides that he and his policeman, Charlie "Clumsy" Carson, will spend the night at the ruined castle to get to the bottom of the rumors once and for all. There's no sign of any ghost...but then Charlie disappears through the floor. It turns out he's fallen into the cellar. And what Hamish and Charlie find there is worse than a ghost.
