I quite enjoyed this one. Often I find that books of this length can become excessively wordy, even tedious. The author launched into action and keeps the reader's attention without overwhelming them with technical jargon or nonsense to fill pages. Characters were introduced and built upon effectively and plot lines were easy to follow while still leaving plenty of room for considering what might happen next.
The narration is well performed though voices for individual characters could be more nuanced.
That said, I love a good story of the triumph of good over evil.
Reese suffered unimaginable losses that would send any normal man over the edge. But he proves to be not just special, but extraordinary. Extraordinary in not only the resentment and resulting violence that is visited upon him but also in the loyalty and support from those whom he has earned trust and respect.
Overall I give a solid thumbs up to the author and look forward to the next book.

Determination and grit in the face of hopelessness

It is difficult to imagine the courage and fortitude shown by Michael Durant to survive such an ordeal. Truly a testament to the caliber of those who make our freedom a personal priority so that the vast majority of us can live without fear.

Having read this many years ago I enjoyed refreshing the story in my mind. The story of Animal Farm is even more poignant than during my middle school years when I first read it. We are living it now.

Another great book

Things have come a long way for the Mad Mick. Books 1-5 established and developed the legend and book 6 did not disappoint. It seems uncertain whether we will see another installment of the series from Horton, but one can hope.

This did not disappoint

As the story continues, Slater, Scout and company manage to survive and escape more chaos. But just about the time it seems like things might actually get better, the author throws a wrench into the works and leaves us with a cliffhanger. I will be awaiting the next book.

Good start to a new series

This book is a different twist on the way the "end of the world as we know it" could come about. Action, interesting characters and plenty of blood and guts. Ryan Schow had my attention on this one and I am ready for the next installment.

This one got good really quickly. I am always a fan of the underdog, and this book provided plenty. Just about the time the government lackies thought they had the upper hand, they found out they underestimated those hick farmers.
Now, because it ends with a cliffhanger, I have to start the next book.
Dammit Boyd!

Great start of another series Boyd!

This one is quite timely considering the reality of the pandemic panic of the last year. The story was interesting and easy to follow but also quite different from his previous books. Plenty of action, twists and turns. As always, he left me eager for the next installment.

Another great one from the ACE man!

I'm already a fan of Adam Carolla and have all of his previous books. He tells it like it is. He unapologetically smacks down the left and right with his take on society's ills and, completely out of character for the usually quiet, subdued and introverted Carolla, (yeah right), offers his opinions in rant form. I know, shhhhhhocking! If you're a Carolla fan, this is another great one!
