I learned early on in the Marines to always have something to read, and was so happy a friend handed this one to me, I have read the entire series and started listening to them on road trips. Yes there are similarities to LOTR but it's hard not to be influenced by Tolkien. The story is wonderful and the characters develop nicely as the story pulls you along and leaves you hooked an ready for more
