Historia
Callis Rose is a girl blessed with a gift from above or cursed with a ruthless power she barely understands; it's really just a matter of degrees. As her family life is turned asunder she is thrown into an indifferent Social Services program where she defends herself the only way she knows how. Callis is moved from home to home until she finally settles at the Lowries. As she starts her first day of high school she meets both her favorite and least favorite person. Both happen to be part of the same household.

If "Carrie" had a sister she would be "Callis"

Another fantastic ride on the Tufo train
Revisado: 08-19-24
I loved this story. Was it similar to Carrie? I guess because it’s a teen girl with powers she doesn’t understand. But any book with a girl with powers is going to make you think “Carrie”… the antagonists would be up there with “Mean Girls” … BUT the comparisons don’t make this any less enjoyable. Yes Mindy and her cohorts were over the top in their hatred of Callis but honestly, if they hadn’t been we wouldn’t have gotten the story we got. I loved that BT was a main character. Sean Runnette was amazing but when isn’t he? Mark Tufois a fantastic writer but bringing Sean onboard was the best thing he could have done for his books. He is Mike Talbot. And if anyone ever tried to take his place, I believe there would be a lot of upset fans.
Overall, I LOVED this story… I gladly give 5 stars.
Spoiler Speak ahead … if you don’t want to know, don’t read further.
I felt for Callis. I rooted for an ending where she survived and lived happily ever after with her boyfriend. For them to get married and have offspring with powers too. And I really wanted her to enact revenge and get away with it. Because Mindy was the epitome of a catty high schoo b*tch. But honestly, that would have been too simple. This ending was way better. I started it yesterday and finished today.
I know he wrote this while ago but I really hope he considers doing another one. Not the same storyline but something non-zombie related. I’m starting to have to draw diagrams to keep up with the different timelines for Mike.

Might as well change the name from Audible to Talbotsodes… that’s where all my credits go. I have made it through all the other books and this was the last series I hadn’t listened to. Hadn’t really planned on it because it was about a dog. Don’t get me wrong… I love dogs but honestly… What’s there to say? I was wrong. This little series has turned into one of my favorite story lines. The ending has me crying. Can’t wait to see how her journey goes reuniting with her “pack”.

Loved this book so much more than I thought I would…. It was very different from the other versions of Mike
Revisado: 07-19-24
This book offers a very different take on the Mike Talbot I have come to know and love. The first half had me in tears, while the second half left me very confused. Although I had considered the ending, the final reveal was one I had dismissed. I am shocked because I rarely get the ending wrong 😂 I saw the foreshadowing and gathered the clues, but I could never seem to fit them all into the "Spirit Clearing" puzzle. I kept feeling like I was missing something. I love audiobooks because if I had a paperback version, I think I would have skipped to the end to figure out the missing piece. And that would have ruined the story. It was the suspense and not knowing which helped to make it such a fantastic story.
If I sound like I’m speaking in riddles or not very clear, it’s because I am trying not to provide spoilers.
Jed… I loved this character so much, and I cried the sloppy tears. I had to actually stop the book and take a 30-minute break because it was a little overwhelming. Jed was such a sweet character and was the father figure and friend that Mike needed. He brought a depth and warmth to the story that balanced the more intense and confusing moments.
I loved this book, and Sean Runnette did another fabulous job bringing the characters to life. I love that each character has their own way of speaking. So subtle and yet very different. I can come back the next day and tell who’s talking based on his voice inflections alone.
The only negative I can see is that at times, it did drag on. However, in hindsight, it was necessary, and the slower pacing was an integral part of the final reveal. So, is it really a negative if ultimately it furthers the storyline?
Also, I kept having to remind myself that this was a young, alternate timeline Mike, and this Mike is going to be a little cantankerous, immature, and naïve—not the take-charge and self-assured Mike I am used to.
Jandilyn was an interesting character, but I couldn’t quite embrace her fully. I think I felt like Mike (and I) were betraying Tracy. That being said, I went through too many tissues during the first half and then had to break out more at the end.
Overall, "The Spirit Clearing" is a captivating read that keeps you guessing until the very end. It's a unique addition to the Mike Talbot universe, offering a fresh perspective and a rollercoaster of emotions. I highly recommend it to fans of the series and newcomers alike.
Mark Tufo is a highly talented writer whose ability to weave complex narratives and develop rich, relatable characters is truly remarkable. His storytelling keeps readers on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating each twist and turn. "The Spirit Clearing" is a testament to his skill and creativity, and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
(If you are new, two words… Zombie Fallout. You’re welcome.)

Ummmm what?…. book 4?
Revisado: 07-17-24
I had assumed it was a trilogy and there would be a conclusion to all this. I’m not sure what I’m feeling to be left hanging. It’s been 2 (3?) years since the third so I’m assuming there isn’t another book.
Loose ends irritate me. Herbert? Pamela? Mike and Tracy? Hammer? The war? No epilogue with a “5 years later” conclusion. Nothing?

Just wow....
Revisado: 07-21-19
This was such a beautifully written book. Carla (read by her husband) had such an amazing way of explaining the Law of One and how it related to her life... the lessons she learned, and how you can become a player on the Game Board of Life.
