Mortal Instruments/Shadowhunters “Rip Off”
Revisado: 05-08-21
Switch out parabatai bond for companion bond, runes for Sigils, and Angels for Atlantis.... throw in an Enclave and here you go... “Rune” is basically Jace, and Bran is Alec ... the backstories of the characters are similar as well. They just made this gay. I feel this probably started out as fan fiction and was adjusted for sale. That being said, it was an action packed well written adventure that kept me listening. The Narrator is excellent and the best part of this audiobook by far.

Trite and Tired
Revisado: 05-01-20
There were elements of this book I quite enjoyed. There were parts that were good and where the flaws were minimal or hardly noticeable.
I found the writing to probably be done by someone who had binge watched Will and Grace and every Adam Sandler Movie just before sitting down to watch, and probably thinks Adam Sandler movies are actually funny, and should probably win Oscars.
Sam was a distinctly unlikeable character who only responded in conversations with Quips, Quotes, and Tired Clichés.... he sat in a corner the whole time crying “Woe is Me” why would anyone be attracted to that? We don’t learn anything like-able about him.
Garry the Hornless Unicorn is Donkey from Shrek if he were played by Ru Paul and written by.... Adam Sandler... also quips, comebacks, and cliché...
Tiggy the half giant is the abominable love child of Patrick Starfish and The Hulk, as if he were written by... Adam Sandler....
Ryan... The love interest.... has 0 personality other than he is loyal and trustworthy... boring... why is anyone pining after this guy aside from the fact that he’s pretty.
I found this book to be shallow, tired, and trite. There is 0 character development in any of your main characters aside from how they clap back at each other. It gets boring. There was a small bit when they are actually in a quest that things are pretty good, but everything before and after are quite annoying. Whoever wrote this book probably watched all of RuPaul’s Drag Race and believed that’s how people interact with each other on a daily basis. It’s awful. I attribute some of this to the Narrator who could have played things a bit better, but mostly it’s the writing, it’s terrible.

Historia
“Contract killer” is a fitting job for a vampire, and it suits Liam just fine. Cast down from the wealth and status of the Sky for taking a human lover, Liam lurks in the poor and pollution-choked Gutter, killing to survive. Between his natural strengths and his Cybernetix mods, no mark has ever escaped him. Liam’s ex-lover Daniel is the heir to Cybernetix - and its greatest threat. Horrified by people less man than machine and the exploitation of Gutter factory workers, he’d rather destroy Cybernetix than inherit it...if his father doesn’t destroy him first.

I can see this on Netflix
Revisado: 04-16-20
I felt like I was in an Episode of Black Mirror.
It was very suspenseful, appropriately erotic, and left me wanting more, I just finished this and went a head and got the second bit. There were a few confusing moments that I feel were more to draw out the length of a scene or maybe the book in general that were a bit clumsy, but it wasn’t enough to pull me out completely and it was easy to jump back in. There are essentially only 2 Characters in the story and the situation for each of them is dire and their history with each other only makes things more complicated. Anyway, I really enjoy this, the Narrator did a great job differentiating between the characters with the texture of his voice and I enjoyed listening to him read this. Looking forward to the next book which I’m about to start in a minute after I take a quick break.

Weak Story, Great Characters, Great Reading
Revisado: 12-13-19
(No intentional spoilers, but there is a tease)
The story, while initially captivating is ultimately weak. While I felt some connection with each of the characters, and their relationships with each other, ultimately I was not satisfied with the story, the resolution, or the aftermath. The road trip part of the story was great, but once they arrive at their destination, the storytelling seems to fall apart, random information, of which we have had no clue, is thrown in just to make the plot move forward and doesn’t really make sense, and the prize they fight for doesn’t seem seductive at all, call me Timothy, but at that point I could no longer buy into the plot. It is interesting though the entire time I was wondering “Who will make it? Who will go and how? Will it even be real? “ Ultimately I think the first 3/4 of the book are worth it, and while the 1/4 ending is lacking, you might as well finish it you’ve come this far, and if you don’t finish it... you’ll finish it, you won’t be able to put it down until it’s over, but you’re not going be pleased with it. So start it, or don’t, but either was it is a commitment to reading the whole story, or never reading it. Also, The reading is great.

Great Continuation!
Revisado: 11-14-19
The continued adventures and love trials of Iron Man and Loki, David and Vell, is well worth the listen. Gibson begins to develop her own world more separating her developing world from its, more than obvious, inspiration, which I quite enjoyed. The reader Matt Haynes does a great job bringing the characters to life. I really felt suspense and a sense of urgency about how this would turn out and I’m curious to see where it will go next!
