Historia
The City of Inventions, Pallass, is a fascinating place. Filled with all kinds of oddballs from the named-rank [Alchemist], Saliss of Lights, to Grimalkin the [Sinew Magus], a drunken Dwarven master [Blacksmith], to Chaldion, to... Wyverns? Erin Solstice is on a break from her inn. Not for long; she's returning with more Skills, but she has changed. She will return with her usual chaos and wonder, but always differently. Now, there are flames and... a garden?

I always enjoy this story for the Narrator. Sadly she is taking a break
Revisado: 04-30-25
I have listened to all of the series and side stories. The narrator has always been one of the highlights. I am curious to see the person they plan to replace her with. This may make the series as good, better, or completely tank the series. Looking forward to where the stories go next.

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

Revisado: 12-22-24
The narration was great. If only there was a story that I enjoyed, this would be a much better rating. I won’t even try the sequel.

Historia
Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon. Survival horror. One of the most brutal, most terrifying full-immersion games ever made. A place where fantasy characters such as elves and dwarves clash with technology, where giant monsters roam the hills, entrusted with protecting the gates of heaven from the demons who would tear it all down. A game where one plays the last of the battlefield surgeons: a healer tasked with keeping the behemoths alive at all costs. But on this server, they don't care about the game. They've come because of the game's most unique feature: full pain.

The story did not really keep my attention. It was slow moving and I really never got to know or understand the characters and their motivations.

The story wasn’t bad
Revisado: 10-07-17
But I hate a story that seems to end if five pages after a long drawn out book. The narrator was not good in my opinion. It wasn’t until the end when I realized that she was American that I’m guessing why some of her pronunciations were so off. I’m an American who lives in England. So her mistakes were glaring. The upper class to this day do not use terms that make them sound common.

Time travel and magic
Revisado: 09-09-17
This book starts out really good but reminds me of other series. This is the first one with a magic subtext and the intertwining of that plot element was done well. The elements of the conversation via text message and emails was annoying in the audio book where the message header was read for each one. The plot did seem to end abruptly and leave an opening very obvious for a follow up book. Great narration actors and some twists and turns.

The narrator for this story is horrible
Revisado: 05-10-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The story is pretty good for a Christian romance. But I'm from Georgia and did not care for the odd "southernisms" she tried to add in. The narrator straight read the book. No change in voice for different characters. In conversations it was sometimes difficult until the end to understand who was saying what.
Could you see The Goodbye Bride being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No

I had seen the five doctors and always wondered about the segment of punting. I knew the scene came from the story but had never seen or read the story. Now to hear the story that went with that scene was great. Great book. Great story. Great narration. Kept me listening.

Wonderful Story as are all his books
Revisado: 01-09-09
I love the stories and the main character in this series. I was not sure if I would like it, but wanted to give it a try since I have bought Simon Green's other books. I was even listening to it in the car, and my wife became interested. She wanted me to explain and fill in the story so she could keep up with the plot. The narrator is really good, and can bring the characters to life. I await the other Simon Green books and hope they get a great narrator to read them as well. Give it a try, if you like a good detective story in a dark fantasy setting.
