Wow
Revisado: 06-09-21
This book reads like no other I have read. It was dense. Thick with lore and myth and visceral and family and chaos and trauma and madness and bodies. I could only listen 15 minutes at a time, but it was worth it.

Revisado: 08-20-20
This was maaaaaybe the worst end to a trilogy i have ever read. All i wanted was to hear about the main characters and instead it was 100 hours of other people i dont give a crap about and an additional 100 hours of boring time travel. Ughhhhhh

Historia
Edward Venn-Thomas lives in the 20th century but has been mysteriously transported to the future, and the apparently idyllic society of New Create, where there is no hunger, no war, and no dissatisfaction. However Venn-Thomas is starting to find life among the New Cretans rather dull. He comes to realise that their perfect existence, inspired by the poets and magicians of their strange occult religion, lacks one fundamental thing: evil. So Venn-Thomas sees it as nothing less than his duty to introduce them to the darker side of life.

Ridiculous
Revisado: 01-15-20
Definitely an entertaining book and well read, but I did roll my eyes very frequently. This book may be about a society that believes in a goddess but it is still very man focused, with men being in power and men’s sexual needs being at the forefront (eye roll)

My goodness what a bizarre book. It had all the makings of an awesome vampire book but something went horribly wrong. If you like age play and vanilla dom kinks then maybe this is the book for you.
Also the reader was very robotic sounding

Historia
In this exquisitely written book, Robert Macfarlane sets off from his Cambridge, England, home to follow the ancient tracks, holloways, drove roads, and sea paths that crisscross both the British landscape and its waters and territories beyond. The result is an immersive, enthralling exploration of the ghosts and voices that haunt old paths, of the stories our tracks keep and tell, and of pilgrimage and ritual. Told in Macfarlane’s distinctive voice, The Old Ways folds together natural history, cartography, geology, archaeology, and literature.

Historia
At the turn of the 22nd century, scientists make a breakthrough in human spaceflight. Through a revolutionary method known as somaforming, astronauts can survive in hostile environments off Earth using synthetic biological supplementations. With the fragility of the body no longer a limiting factor, human beings are at last able to journey to neighboring exoplanets long known to harbor life. A team of these explorers, Ariadne O’Neill and her three crewmates, are hard at work in a planetary system 15 light-years from Sol, on a mission to ecologically survey four habitable worlds.

Not too bad
Revisado: 09-07-19
I liked this book alright but it was very “large picture” heavy, I guess I was hoping for more history into the smaller things like shoes and mailboxes and bikes etc.
It feels like bill bryson sacrifices facts for a good punchline, which is a little annoying and not actually funny.

All the thumbs down
Revisado: 03-25-19
Booooo this book is awful. Its like: historical fact, comical metaphor, historical fact, comical metaphor historical fact, comical metaphor and so on. Anything is fair game. A frisbee, a sports car, sunning black cat, bumping uglies...
also I hate a book that talks to me like it knows me and assumes my predetermined assumptions about things like cavemen and clocks
Boooooooo dont waste your time
Also the endless cell phone/modern technology references seem like a grampy wrote the book

Historia
It's her birthday but lonely workaholic Dana Watts is at the office late, drafting a proposal. The very last interruption she expects comes in the form of the most beautiful breasts she has ever seen. These belong to an incredibly hot woman, who is standing in front of her, stripping to music. Laurel Stanley performs strip-o-grams to pay her way through school. She has never encountered a more ungrateful recipient than Dana. The uptight project manager makes it clear that she is furious to be distracted from her work by the "gift".
