Historia
In Do Nothing, award-winning journalist Celeste Headlee illuminates a new path ahead, seeking to institute a global shift in our thinking so we can stop sabotaging our well-being, put work aside, and start living instead of doing. As it turns out, we’re searching for external solutions to an internal problem. We won’t find what we’re searching for in punishing diets, productivity apps, or the latest self-improvement schemes. Yet all is not lost - we just need to learn how to take time for ourselves, without agenda or profit, and redefine what is truly worthwhile.

Historia
Since the original publication of Nudge more than a decade ago, the title has entered the vocabulary of businesspeople, policy makers, engaged citizens, and consumers everywhere. The book has given rise to more than 200 "nudge units" in governments around the world and countless groups of behavioral scientists in every part of the economy. It has taught us how to use thoughtful "choice architecture" - a concept the authors invented - to help us make better decisions for ourselves, our families, and our society.

Better behaviorist than moralist
Revisado: 06-17-22
though very well written and presented, the entire concept of nudging prompts a question about whether the authors are making moralistic arguments about what is necessarily good or bad. while not as important in regards to behavior per se as edges do work, we should not neglect whether or not we should presume we have the moral stance.

Unhelpful
Revisado: 05-12-22
If you’re looking for a somewhat diverting history of a unique person, averagely narrated, here you go. If you’re looking for insights on how to learn things well or quickly or better than average, I’ll sum it up for you, single-mindedly devote your whole self to one thing to the near exclusion of everything else. There. Saved you fourteen dollars and hours of time.

Historia
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

well written in nuanced story about a young chess prodigy. delivery and narration appeared stilted and without inflection of voice that I believe the characters likely had. accents poorly done if at all. all men sounded the same

summary: play the spread
Revisado: 07-21-20
nothing much innovative. really just play the spread between interest rates, eliminate oppressive debt, and consider hanging on to "good" kinds of debt.
