Historia
With one speech and thunderous applause, Chancellor Palpatine brought the era of the Republic crashing down. In its place rose the Galactic Empire. Across the galaxy, people rejoiced and celebrated the end of war—and the promises of tomorrow. But that tomorrow was a lie. Instead, the galaxy became twisted by the cruelty and fear of the Emperor’s rule.

Not Worth Your Time or Money

Lack-luster "political thriller"
Revisado: 04-25-25
Okay-ish novel, but barely political story it claims to be. Constant reflection to current US politics and food items from our world takes you out of story, not what I look from a galaxy far far away...
Bail's and Mon's interaction is the bright spot on this book. Bail's pig headishness is painful, while Mon's trip is better feels forces. The author fails to understand the source material, ending with two dimensional stereotypical characters. Wants to be James Luceno's Darth Plagueis, but misses the mark.

Historia
The Science of Getting Rich is the classic guide to creating wealth through the Law of Attraction. First published in 1910, 100 years later it inspired Rhonda Byrne's best-selling book and movie, The Secret. According to Wallace D. Wattles, "There is a science of getting rich, and it is an exact science, like algebra or arithmetic. There are certain laws which govern the process of acquiring riches; once these laws are learned and obeyed by any man, he will get rich with mathematical certainty."

narrator had a good and clear voice
Revisado: 12-16-24
The book begins by stating it focuses on science and not on philosophy... It is barely philosophy and definately not a science. God and Jesus is invoked, drags on top of that the dead and occult, which it is quick to attach on other similar topic books. The message is: believe you're rich and you shall be because universe wants it.

Historia
The deadly dimensions over London have been sealed, and the monsters have departed. But word has come to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson of a more terrifying creature still - the great Cthulhu has been sighted off the waters of Innsmouth, Massachusetts. Only Holmes can defeat him. And in the muddy village of Innsmouth, surrounded by villagers who are more sea-monster than human, Holmes meets again his nemesis, Moriarty, and yet greater foes: Amelia Scarcliffe and Maria Fitzgerald, harbingers of Dagon, who have called forth Cthulhu.

Neither of the topics match
Revisado: 08-07-22
Following review covers all three books.
Lacked the mystery and detective work of a Sherlock Holmes story. Complete misunderstanding of Moriarty as a Holmes villain. Lovecraft mythos seems to at level of Wikipedia articles, almost all of it something else than envisioned within mythos. Doesn't work as either Holmes or Lovecraftin story.
Dennis Kleinman does excellent job amd makes it bearable. Lovegroves books on same style work much better.

Historia
Ancient Egyptian civilization is so grand our minds sometimes have difficulty adjusting to it. It lasted 3,000 years, longer than any other on the planet. Its Great Pyramid of Cheops was the tallest building in the world until well into the 19th century and remains the only Ancient Wonder still standing. And it was the most technologically advanced of the ancient civilizations, with the medical knowledge that made Egyptian physicians the most famous in the world.

Truly a disappointment
Revisado: 04-25-22
First of all, not a bad book. It's not a history of ancient Egypt, but a archeological and architectural history of ancient Egypt. Individual pharaoh gets on average 2 minutes of talk times and mostly it is "He built this", same goes for egyptian mythology.
Bob Brier is truely an enthusiastic speaker, but he repeats words and sentences constantly, which amounts over an hour worth of the time in this book/lecture. Also his opinions and preference towards Egypt colors the lectures, especially towards the end of the book.
Nice to know stuff for tourists or "I wonder how they did" -people. But it ain't history of Ancient Egypt, save for about 3-4 hours worth in total.
