Historia
Few know the warship’s actual name. But everyone has heard the rumors. The PUV James Keeling can do something no other vessel in existence can do—slip into another dimension, travel undetected, then re-emerge onto our plane and surprise enemy targets. But the thing that makes the Crypt unique also makes it a nightmare for those onboard; interdimensional travel causes hallucinations, violent behavior, and psychotic breakdowns. Keeling could be the Union’s greatest weapon, a game-changing asset that can defeat the bloodthirsty zealots of the Purist Nation, the Union’s mortal enemy.

Kept me on the hook and on my toes
Revisado: 01-22-24
The combination of action and character development kept me wanting to know more about each of them and how they would interact with each other next. The characters are not one sided, nor is the plot. You get a peek at both sides in this story. Porter does a wonderful job bringing the characters to life, and now those voices will always be associated with the characters for me. I can not wait for the next book.

Historia
Even those who take no interest in the field of dragon naturalism have heard of Lady Trent's expedition to the inhospitable deserts of Akhia. Her discoveries there are the stuff of romantic legend, catapulting her from scholarly obscurity to worldwide fame. The details of her personal life during that time are hardly less private, having provided fodder for gossips in several countries.

Please May I Have Some More
Revisado: 05-09-16
Would you listen to In the Labyrinth of Drakes again? Why?
I would listen to In the Labyrinth again. Kate Reading is the perfect narrator for the voice of Lady Trent. Marie Brennan has a style of writing that infuses adventure with humor and just touch of romantic interest. Her characters are well rounded, interesting to get to know. Putting the book in memoir style with the first person makes the listener connect with the characters and their surroundings and makes the plot more involved.
What other book might you compare In the Labyrinth of Drakes to and why?
This book, and indeed the series, stands apart, but I think the Dragon Keeper series by Robin Hobb has one or two similarities. In both books there are past civilizations, with close connections to dragons, who had been wiped out. There were also people trying to discover more about those connections.
Which scene was your favorite?
In the Labyrinth of Drakes has quite a few really good scenes so it is hard to pick a favorite, but when she finds the covered staircase and the group decide to stay to investigate, you can feel their excitement and can't wait to find out what is at the bottom of them.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I normally only get to listen to audiobooks on my drive to and from work, but for this series I found myself sitting in my vehicle when I got home, telling myself I would listen to just a little bit more.
Any additional comments?
This series is the first from Marie Brennan that I have read or listened to, but probably won't be the last. I sincerely hope that we have not heard the last of Lady Trent and company because there are a lot of unanswered questions about her life and their discoveries. Kate Reading gave a wonderful narration, as usual. It was actually a search of her works that led me to this series and I am very glad it did.

Historia
The entire epic fantasy trilogy in one volume. Plague strikes the city of Sarum, and the dead rise from their graves. The liche, Dr. Cadman, has discovered a long-hidden artifact and perverted its power for his own selfish ends. But an ancient evil from beyond the stars is drawn by its use and turns hungry eyes upon the Earth. These are the times of Unweaving, the times Deacon Shader has been prepared for since the day he was born.

When is the Next Installment Coming?
Revisado: 03-09-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend this audiobook to a friend. The world and characters in the book are so fleshed out, they really connect with you. They make you want to know more about their lives and what happens to them next.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I have listened to Prior's other series Nameless Dwarf and I was happily surprised to hear Nameless was part of this one too. He has to be my favorite. He has had so much trauma but still keeps on going and mostly with a joke or two. I wish I was as resilient as he is.
A close second has to be Rhiannon. She is one tough lady, and nothing keeps her down.
What about Bob Neufeld’s performance did you like?
Neufeld's narration seemed spot on to me. He was able to convey feeling without being overly dramatic.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I think more than laughing or crying, this book gave me moments of being angry with characters, but in a good way. The characters seemed real enough that you could feel angry for the stupid decisions they were making or for not seeing what to the listener, being able to hear everyone's thoughts, seemed obvious.
Any additional comments?
I am really hoping there will be a next installment to this series. I want to find out what happens next in these worlds and with these characters. I wish I could be more specific, but I am not sure I can without having to do spoiler alerts all over the place.

Not Another Lord of the Rings Knockoff
Revisado: 10-11-14
What made the experience of listening to The Nameless Dwarf: The Complete Chronicles the most enjoyable?
The author and narrator had me routing for Nameless right from the start. I wasn't too sure if I would like some of the other characters, but just like in life, you can't always judge someone from first impressions.
Have you listened to any of Bob Neufeld’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to other performances of Mr. Neufeld. This one, like his others, draws the listener in, and makes the characters come alive. I think the swagger in the Nameless character was spot on. I will look for more of his performances in the future.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I am not sure if I could pick one specific moment that particularly moved me, but throughout the book the Nils character did things that showed the growth of his character. This as a whole moved me. Some authors would not have allowed that particular character to grow and I commend Mr. Prior for his choices.
Any additional comments?
When I read the description and decided to listen to this book I thought it would be a formula fantasy book and I am so happy that I was wrong. The world Mr. Prior has created in these stories is familiar without being stale. There are interesting creature characters with their own backstories that I hope will be revisited in other stories.

But with no real training, his dream has little chance for fulfillment. One day, he meets and immediately falls in love with Isabella Monterone, a dark-haired beauty, whose father, a very rich and powerful Milanese Judge, refuses to allow his daughter to date a penniless musician.

A Sweet Timeless Story for Opera Lovers
Revisado: 08-28-14
What did you love best about Tempesta's Dream?
I enjoyed the combination of relationship stories and the tidbits of opera facts and history.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Alfredo was my favorite character. His inner strength and humor shines throughout the book.
What about Bob Neufeld’s performance did you like?
Mr. Neufeld brought the story alive. The feeling and intonation was spot on for the characters and made me feel as if I was watching the story as well as listening to it.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were a couple of places that brought a tear to my eye for either sadness or joy.
Any additional comments?
I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a love story, not just those who like opera.
