Historia
One of the nation's most popular presenters, Sir David examines 40 marvels of the natural world from his extraordinary and pioneering experiences. What was Sir David's first pet? Which animal would he most like to be? How did he track down a giant earthworm? Why does he respect rats? And what did he do when confronted by a 10-foot-long reptile? His enthusiasm is as infectious as ever and conveys a unique fascination on topics as diverse as the sloth, monstrous flowers, the platypus, dragons, the fire salamander, the coelacanth, the dodo, bird's-nest soup and the large blue butterfly.

Historia
It was long ago, but not as long as it seems: The Berlin Wall fell and the Twin Towers collapsed. In between, one presidential election was allegedly decided by Ross Perot while another was plausibly decided by Ralph Nader. Landlines fell to cell phones, the internet exploded, and pop culture accelerated without the aid of technology that remembered everything. It was the last era with a real mainstream to either identify with or oppose. The ’90s brought about a revolution in the human condition, and a shift in consciousness, that we’re still struggling to understand.

So good.
Revisado: 08-20-23
When you read accounts of the 1890s or the 1970s that draw historical conclusions with the context of retrospect you have history. The 90s are now ancient history and of you don’t believe it, you will soon enough.

Historia
When Conor Knighton set off to explore America's "best idea", he worried the whole thing could end up being his worst idea. A broken engagement and a broken heart had left him longing for a change of scenery, but the plan he'd cooked up in response had gone a bit overboard in that department: Over the course of a single year, Knighton would visit every national park in the country, from Acadia to Zion.

Very good overview of each and every park in our great parks system. It will make you appreciate the ones you have seen and dream of seeing the ones you haven’t. I recommend it often.

Hi! I’m Seth! I was asked to describe my audiobook, Yearbook for websites and shit like that, so...here it goes!!! Yearbook is a collection of true stories that I desperately hope are just funny at worst, and life-changingly amazing at best. (I understand that it’s likely the former, which is a fancy “book” way of saying “the first one.”) I talk about my grandparents, doing stand-up comedy as a teenager, bar mitzvahs, and Jewish summer camp, and tell way more stories about doing drugs than my mother would like.

Historia
In the stirring, highly anticipated first volume of his presidential memoirs, Barack Obama tells the story of his improbable odyssey from young man searching for his identity to leader of the free world, describing in strikingly personal detail both his political education and the landmark moments of the first term of his historic presidency - a time of dramatic transformation and turmoil.

Ive read all the Presidential memories but this one stands above them all. It’s evident that before he was the president and before he was a community activist, Obama was a teacher. The book provides content for the events of his presidency that informs the reader on American history while also giving insight into what it’s like to hold the office of the president. Yes, it is a long commitment but at the end of the book, all I could think about is now at some point I’ll come back and read it again.

Historia
When a listless office employee (the narrator) meets Tyler Durden, his life begins to take on a strange new dimension. Together they form Fight Club - a secretive underground group sponsoring bloody bare-knuckle boxing matches staged in seedy alleys, vacant warehouses, and dive-bar basements. Fight Club lets ordinary men vent their suppressed rage, and it quickly develops a fanatical following.

Excellent!!!
Revisado: 10-03-20
I saw the movie and loved it. Read the book and loved it even more. This is one of the better works of fiction I have read in a very long time. I did find the editing between chapters to be a little choppy - they would just end which made it seam like it was cut off. Very odd. Perhaps this was intentional as the book has an odd style but I found it annoying as I had to "rewind" and "replay" certain sections to be sure I didn't accidently skip a chapter. All things considered, a great read. I read it in one day!!!

Historia
The year is 1876. Warring Indian tribes still populate America's western territories, even as lawless gold-rush towns begin to mark the landscape. In much of the country, it is still illegal to espouse evolution. Against this backdrop two monomaniacal paleontologists pillage the Wild West, hunting for dinosaur fossils while surveilling, deceiving, and sabotaging each other in a rivalry that will come to be known as the Bone Wars.

This was excellent. Classic Crichton. This was developed from a manuscript so there were a couple of parts that felt a little out of place. It doesn’t matter - I recommend highly. Narrator was great too.

Historia
Barbara Demick's Nothing to Envy follows the lives of six North Koreans over fifteen years - a chaotic period that saw the death of Kim Il-sung and the unchallenged rise to power of his son, Kim Jong-il, and the devastation of a far-ranging famine that killed one-fifth of the population. Taking us into a landscape never before seen, Demick brings to life what it means to be an average Korean citizen, living under the most repressive totalitarian regime today.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I held off on reading this for a while as I thought it would be "personal stories" which would not be interesting. I was very wrong - this ordinary Koreans are anything but ordinary! If you want to learn more about N. Korea this is the book for you. Outstanding.
