Here's the Problem ..

.. I am ready for the next book already! This story was awesome. Patricia Briggs continues her phenomenal writing. The evolution of these characters pulls you more and more into this world. Honestly, I would be happy looking into their everyday life she is so good at character development. Charles and Anna have become such an engaging set of characters. Bran and Lea's growth is now a new line of interest that I cannot wait to see what this becomes!

Written by a 12 year old... Pretty sure.

I am pretty sure this was written by a 12 year old. This is one of the worse titles I have ever purchased on Audible. Honestly, this book reads like some kid who just hit puberty. Pretty people good. Ugly people bad. Smart People Nerds and weak. I wish I could return it. No, actually someone should pay me for the time I have given to this title.

Ummm .. think you can insult half your readership

First and foremost, your Monster Hunter books are some of my favorite SF books ever. Normally. However, the tone of this book was really off. Very RIGHT wing. Lots of Faux News'esqe attitude about anybody who is not a conservative. The lead character spewed more "libitard" platitudes than I have seen in any book that wasn't purposefully a policitcal book. So many dog whistle and social stereotypes about Democrats, the left, people of color, women, government.... I could go on. His hate and disdain were not as subtle as you may think. I hope this was more of a character study and not where your writing or this series is going.

Fox News Fantasy

This books is perfect for those Fox News fanboys who think that torture could fix everything. That people with brown skin are the cause of all the bad in the world. It's either brown skin people from the middle east, brown skin people from mexico or south america or brown skin people from inner city USA. I mean this books has a white character sexually tortures and mutilates a 18 year black girl, then somehow the girl is suppose to be so grateful that the character did this to her that she becomes their freaking maid. What sad is that these aren't characters, this is the author living out his Fox News fantasies about the world.

Another Fantastic Story from Ms. Briggs

Another fantastic continuation of this story and expansion of this universe. Patricia Briggs has a way of pulling you into this fantastical world and making you want to stay there. The depth of her characters is so well done. She can also teach a class on how to write a great story with romantic leaning without making it something your average guy just can't get through. Too many books written in the Urban Fantasy genre are romance novels what someone added vampires, demons and magics too. Not Ms. Briggs, she tells a story they everybody wants to read. Only problem is I am ready for the next book right now!

Fun Fast Enthralling

What did you like best about this story?

I love the character development and how he continues to evolve this universe. This books leave you wanting more and I cannot wait to see what Penny Royal and all the AI are up to. There is more to come and you want it all right now.

What about Jonathan Yen’s performance did you like?

Excellent on all fronts. Keeps it interesting and matches his voice tember well to the characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Be careful what you ask for, for Penny Royal may give it to you in spades!

Any additional comments?

Great continuation of the Polity universe. He fills in a lot of areas the previous books left you wondering about. It also leads you into a widening field of possible characters and the books universe itself.

What would have made Voices From Beyond better?

If the premise of the story wasn't stolen from the Movie Prince of Darkness (1987). Secondarily, if he could actually make likeable characters. I know it his style, but it is tiring. His characters are not smart, they are just annoying. He molds the world to fit his characters and whatever nonsense he thinks up. Lastly, all of his stories end by someone doing something super simple and wining the day.

Not Simon R. Green.

How could the performance have been better?

Tim Reynolds did not help. His voice is too whiney. Too often the only way you can tell which character he was suppose to be is how whiney they sounded.

I normally never say this, but .. No.

I think I have read too may Night Side, Drood books. They all blend now and this series is nothing new. Same thing rehashed and not very well.
