Very good book
Revisado: 09-08-24
I have enjoyed the series as a whole and how it all connects. The voice acting is amazing, and I do enjoy all the different voices and a few accents! The author did make some improvements in adding more variety when using the phase “she said”… I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t much spice, but the story didn’t need it to be interesting. I appreciated the interpersonal dilemmas/obstacles as they were very relatable. I did find the over-powered nature of alot of the “good guy” meta humans to be boring and wished there was more perceived danger and suspense. Overall this book had me on the edge of my seat more than the first 2, bravo!

Historia
For as long as Sigrid could remember, she’s wanted to become a mighty, fearless valkyrie. But without a winged mare, she’s a mere stable hand, left wondering who her parents were and why she’s so different. So when the Eye shows her a vision where she's leading a valkyrie charge on the legendary eight-legged horse Sleipnir, she grabs the possibility of this greater destiny with both hands, refusing to let go.

Lost me sometimes
Revisado: 10-25-23
Good concept, though it struggled to hold my attention at times. I usually prefer adult novels, but one of my favorite series is YA (when women were warriors). I fell asleep at some of the more “action packed” parts.

Historia
Being both a valkyrie and a princess isn’t turning out quite the way Sigrid imagined. The other valkyries still treat her like a stable hand. Her relationship with Mariam is less “long-distance” and more “worlds apart.” And lately, she’s been wondering if Sleipnir, her new horse, isn’t making her a little bit…well, evil. But Sigrid’s first official valkyrie mission sends ripples through the Nine Worlds. She’s attracted the wrath of not only the Night Elves but their sinister king, who wants nothing more than to bring darkness down on everyone.

Barely managed to finish it
Revisado: 10-25-23
Was very boring, fell asleep a couple times while listening. Voice acting was good with unique voices for each character. The plot and author’s way of describing things was too shallow and bland. I had a similar issue with the first book as well, but I thought it was just me. I was wrong. The whole book could have been concluded in half the time, too much filler.

Historia
Princess Oona Talomir enjoys the little things that come with her station: a handmaiden, her lavish bedchamber, and scores of fancy dresses - the duty to win a decades-long war, not so much. Oh, did I mention assassins? Seers foretold the conflict would end by her hand. From the moment she drew her first breath, the neighboring kingdom has been trying to kill her so she could not grow powerful enough to destroy them. The burden of her crown becomes too much to bear, yet one thing lifts her spirits amid the gloom. Her servant girl, Kitlyn. Alas, in a kingdom obsessed with the god of purity, she is terrified to confess her forbidden love.

Barely held my interest
Revisado: 06-22-23
To be honest I bought it before I realized it was written by a man. And, I am reminded once again why I don’t read books written by men. As a woman I want books written from the female gaze. I want strong female characters with interesting and witty personalities. The characters in this story were one-dimensional. The women were petulant, damsel-in-distresses. The men were arrogant and had hero complexes. The narrator made it even harder for me to enjoy the story. There were some good aspects that made the plot interesting, but mostly I felt like the storytelling was lazy. Everything happened TO the main characters more than they actually DID anything. 1 star for finishing it, 1 star for creativity.

Historia
Emilia Drakon was once the youngest and kindest of the dragon sorcerers, but she's now the last of her kind. Betrayed and angry, she trades her meekness for a sword and embarks on a quest for vengeance that will lead her straight into the arms of the legendary Captain Maria Welles. Captain of the famed pirate ship, the Wicked Fate, Maria is every bit as treacherous and bloodthirsty as they say. She has her own vendetta and practically jumps at the chance to trick Emilia into joining her crew.

Great chemistry
Revisado: 06-01-23
The chemistry was there from the start with the two main characters, which did make it hard to believe they hated each other even for a second. The story is good, the characters unique and likable. The book does end in a cliff hanger just in case you would prefer to get this book when the second one gets released. I don’t like cliffhangers which leave the story incomplete. I will definitely buy the next one when it comes out!

Historia
Neve Blackthorne, head of one of the most successful Studios in Hollywood, is the one to rule them all. Powerful, beautiful, and aloof, she's ruthless, yet irresistible. Above all, she has an unquenchable survival instinct. Surely a fleeting entanglement with one Audrey Avens, a bright, young, rising star in her company, won't bring down the Wicked Queen of Tinseltown. Or will it? Neve's public persona has no chink in the untouchable armor, but when the lights go out and the cameras stop rolling, what becomes of an Ice Queen whose heart is ruled by love and fear?

Interesting elements, but too drawn out
Revisado: 05-21-23
I did not like how the story is drawn out over a few years, I felt like I was just waiting for the second shoe to drop for 80% of the book. The last couple of chapters were almost worth listening to the whole story as the narrator did an amazing job expressing the characters in the book. The main character spends so much time in her own head overthinking everything, and at times it was difficult to distinguish the main character’s inner dialogue from actual dialog. The flashbacks distracted me and pulled me out of the present. This isn’t so much a love story between the two protagonists as it is a journey of healing one’s childhood trauma.

Creative story
Revisado: 05-15-23
Unique story and not too predictable. I am not the type to reread/rewatch/relisten to things, but I would relisten to this to reexperience the twists and turns of the story. My only gripe of this book is that there wasn’t enough wlw content. I personally almost stopped listening to the book because of all the straightness, but the overall intrigue of the plot kept my attention. The main characters are bisexual, but they are mostly interested in men throughout the majority of the book. I find this contradicts the overall theme that men are despicable animals. Although, I do agree with other reviews that too many of the men/boys in this book are depicted as such terrible excuses for human beings. And, that the only real likable male character is Drew, a gay married man who shows up occasionally. I enjoyed the narrators and how each personified their own unique character.

Historia
Alex Green is a young girl in a world much like ours, except for its most seminal event: the Mass Dragoning of 1955, when hundreds of thousands of ordinary wives and mothers sprouted wings, scales, and talons; left a trail of fiery destruction in their path; and took to the skies. Was it their choice? What will become of those left behind? Why did Alex’s beloved aunt Marla transform but her mother did not? Alex doesn’t know. It’s taboo to speak of.

Not interesting
Revisado: 04-21-23
I thought it would be more interesting for incorporating dragons and rewriting history… But, I was very dissatisfied. I would recommend the trilogy “when women were warriors” as this series does everything better. There is adventure, war, kingdoms, badass women, lgbt love, and beautiful development and explorations of the characters. The first book is available as an audiobook, and I hope the rest will be available soon so that I can purchase them!

Historia
"All the women of my family had gone to war... Now my turn had come... So, it is the custom that a free woman leave her mother's house to bind herself and those of her blood to a neighboring clan, either by the sword or by the cradle." So begins the story of young Tamras, as she embarks on her journey to become a warrior's apprentice. This epic story is not about battles and armor, but rather about relationships, coming of age and wisdom, and deep insights into the human experience.

Revisado: 03-25-23
The narrator did an amazing job bringing the characters and story alive. I did not enjoy the 3rd book as much as the first two as the story grew more convoluted leading to my interest waning.
