Great Insights
Revisado: 04-18-24
Great book! Hyatt shares some remarkable quotes and insights throughout the book.
The last couple of chapters lost me as they discussed systematic processes and terms related to his approach to goals and his planner.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy and encouraging read toward achieving success.

Historia
We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills that we can learn and how good we can become. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

Unsure about buying this book? 📕 🎧
Revisado: 04-17-24
Adam’s personality really comes through in his narrations. I enjoyed the variety of anecdotes, citations, quotes, and really found the sound bytes of interviewees refreshing.
As a lifelong student of social sciences and psychology, the multitude of real world vignettes was practical as it was stimulating. He distills principles and questions while leaving room for further consideration and introspection by the reader (listener). One can only imagine sitting through engaging lectures and having the chance to ask questions to deepen the shared exploration of learning.
I highly recommend this book, especially to anyone and everyone experiencing a major life transition. It offers a sense of hope through its delivery of powerful encouragement.
From the Epilogue, “…the gains that matter most are the hardest to count. The most meaningful growth is not building our career; it’s building our character. Success is more than reaching our goals. It’s living our values. There’s no higher value than aspiring to be better tomorrow than we are today. There’s no greater accomplishment than unleashing our hidden potential.” @14:26m Epilogue: Going the Distance”

🩺 Dr. Siegel did a great job with this book! I will now purchase the hardcopy and enjoy reviewing the studies referenced.
🧠 I purchased this book due to Dr. Daniel Amen’s participation in it. His clinic (the Amen Clinics) changed my life for the better by diagnosing my ADHD through their SPECT scans and providing resources, supplements, and prescriptions for therapies that have dramatically improved both my cognitive functioning and quality of life.
Back to Dr. Siegel’s book, I support the use of medical marijuana and with the HHS’s recent recommendation for marijuana to change to schedule 3, exciting opportunities for long overdue studies await.
Rebecca did a great job. As a patient who consumes THC legally (edibles is my preferred mode), this book provided insights and resources that I value and it inspired additional research questions. 📚
🧐 For those who gave Siegel a poor rating, let’s see your books, please share your expert opinions supported by peer-reviewed studies, and provide it in the easy to understand and smooth flowing voice that she did. I’ll read.

Historia
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Visceral Emotion, Raw Vulnerability
Revisado: 03-05-19
David Goggins kept popping up in my social media feeds for over a year. Frankly, I ignored him because I couldn’t see beyond an always-running half-naked hard-a** with a scratchy voice. I wasn’t interested in whatever his message was...until trusted partners within my mastermind group recommended his book. That changed everything.
I identified with David’s journey of pain; we share the path of overcoming abuse, trauma, anger, and ultimately, self-acceptance and surrender.
I am so grateful that David held nothing back in sharing his story! Everything about this book makes jt a must-read, especially for entrepreneurs & leaders.
Goggins’ experience & message position him with a vantage-point to help everyone who has had to climb out of darkness & obscurity to carve their own path to freedom, light, and peace.
One of the best autobiographical accounts I’ve ever read! If you haven’t read this, DO IT. My hat off to David & Adam both. EPIC.
