Historia
In the highly anticipated finale to the New York Times best-selling trilogy, dictators, prophets, and tensions rise. In a world that’s conquered death, will humanity finally be torn asunder by the immortal beings it created? Citra and Rowan have disappeared. Endura is gone. It seems like nothing stands between Scythe Goddard and absolute dominion over the world scythedom. With the silence of the Thunderhead and the reverberations of the Great Resonance still shaking the earth to its core, the question remains: Is there anyone left who can stop him?

Historia
Agnes is a wild creature who walks her family’s land with a falcon on her glove and is known throughout the countryside for her unusual gifts as a healer, understanding plants and potions better than she does people. Once she settles with her husband on Henley Street in Stratford-upon-Avon, she becomes a fiercely protective mother and a steadfast, centrifugal force in the life of her young husband, whose career on the London stage is taking off when his beloved young son succumbs to sudden fever.

Historia
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

This was a slog
Revisado: 07-25-23
This one was hard to get through. The main character, Kit, while not completely unlikeable, just isn’t relatable. The beginning of the book is okay, the middle is basically a never-ending internal monologue by Kit, and the last part is a confusing tangle of whodunit. The best part of the entire book is at the very end - the letter that Virginia sends to Kit. Don’t waste your credit unless you already like this writer’s work.

Stranger in a Strange Land is the epic saga of an earthling, Valentine Michael Smith, born and educated on Mars, who arrives on our planet with “psi” powers—telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, telekinesis, teleportation, pyrolysis, and the ability to take control of the minds of others—and complete innocence regarding the mores of man. After his tutelage under a surrogate father figure, Valentine begins his transformation into a kind of messiah.

Historia
Kari James, Urban Native, is a fan of heavy metal, ripped jeans, Stephen King novels, and dive bars. She spends most of her time at her favorite spot in Denver, the White Horse. When her cousin Debby finds an old family bracelet that once belonged to Kari’s mother, it inadvertently calls up both her mother’s ghost and a monstrous entity, and her willful ignorance about her past is no longer sustainable. Haunted by visions of her mother and hunted by this mysterious creature, Kari must search for what happened to her mother all those years ago.

Pleased with my purchase! Would read this author again.
Revisado: 06-07-23
This book is such a creepy good mindbender.
Kari is likable and so are the other prominent characters. It’s not a tear-jerker but you do end up rooting for the characters and also feeling bad for them in certain parts. It also included the perfect amount of sci-fi concepts which were written well/believably - no cheesiness here. If you like Native American culture, there are lots of interesting facts you’ll learn along the way. I would read more from this author.

Against all odds, three Slovakian sisters have survived years of imprisonment in the most notorious death camp in Nazi Germany: Auschwitz. Couldn’t finish
Revisado: 03-19-23
This book had to be written for the young adult crowd. Expect a very juvenile style of writing and shallow depth of character. The author gave the youngest sister an incredibly low level of intelligence and the narrator gave her a baby voice even though she is supposed to be at least 20 years old. For adults, there are better books written about the holocaust, but this book could work for the 14 year old and under crowd.

Historia
On the day the government decrees that women are no longer allowed more than 100 words daily, Dr. Jean McClellan is in denial. This can't happen here. Not in America. Not to her. This is just the beginning. Soon women are not permitted to hold jobs. Girls are no longer taught to read or write. Females no longer have a voice. Before, the average person spoke 16,000 words a day, but now women only have 100 to make themselves heard. But this is not the end. For herself, her daughter, and every woman silenced, Jean will reclaim her voice.

Preachy
Revisado: 01-25-23
I chose the book because it had a very compelling summary. I was guessing the concept would be in the same vein as Handmaids Tale, and to an extent it was, but it devolves into a very preachy diatribe in large portions of the book. The same lines are repeated through the book (i.e. “there that word was again - “it”) I ended up losing interest and didn’t finish the book. Unless you like preachy feminist (I’m all for feminism btw) books I would skip this one.
