Historia
The last person Alice Shipley expected to see since arriving in Tangier with her new husband was Lucy Mason. After the accident at Bennington, the two friends - once inseparable roommates - haven't spoken in over a year. Lucy - always fearless and independent - helps Alice emerge from her flat and explore the country. But soon a familiar feeling starts to overtake Alice - she feels controlled and stifled by Lucy at every turn. Then Alice's husband, John, goes missing, and Alice starts to question everything around her.

A Waste of a Promising Setting & Set-up
Revisado: 10-04-18
This book sounded so promising, but it's really just two uninteresting characters taking turns recounting the same clumsy scenes and uninspired steps. Nothing develops, but there are a few mysteries kept in flashbacks that are not at all worth the slog. With so little going on, it's an easy book to follow after the first chapter or so.

Historia
On the world called Hyperion, beyond the law of the Hegemony of Man, there waits the creature called the Shrike. There are those who worship it. There are those who fear it. And there are those who have vowed to destroy it. In the Valley of the Time Tombs, where huge, brooding structures move backward through time, the Shrike waits for them all.

An enjoyable classic
Revisado: 08-06-18
The multiple narrators help to bring the great writing to the listener. The pilgrims' stories are varied in style and subject, but well worth paying attention to. The ending was a bit hollow. (Possibly truncated for a sequel.) Overall, it's an amazing world that is built and interwoven here.

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Put the wine down
Revisado: 04-07-15
A new "thriller" that is selling fast, 'Girl On The Train' is so uninspired I considered asking for my money back. The book needlessly shifts between three perspectives while the reader has to deal with one highly unreliable narrator who can't stop drinking long enough to recall witnessing multiple acts of violence. Another viewpoint is also dealing with addiction but has a secret crummy enough to have nothing to do with anything. The third viewpoint is completely devoid of purpose or interest or anything. Three female characters who constantly think about each other out of obsessive boredom and three male characters who never develop at all, presumably due to their lack of obvious addiction.
